    HI guys,

i'm looking at selling 2 cars and buying a new one. A lot of garages have said I am better selling private as I did think.

Just gone to list one on Autotrader and its £75 until the vehicle sells (not sure if you pay a percentage once it's sold?)

I am aware there is facebook/ebay as well but not sure if to trust the whole process as there does seem to be a lot of time wasters on facebook when selling other items.

Sounds like for selling both cars myself I will get an extra £2000-£2500 over part-exing at a garage. (both valued at around £4000 each.

You might want to try a site like motorway com

You probably won't get quite as much as a private sale, but you will eradicate the muppets

    Thanks Mark.

I'm undecided which way to go to be honest. I know private gets more but then there's the hassle of awkward buyers and possibly wanting to return the car etc. My car is actually a VW 2l turbo GTI so I don't want the hassle of people wanting to come "test drive" it etc. The second car I inherited which is good on fuel but gives an awful driving experience. As I have a small business I would like something like a Golf GTD which seems to be the best of both worlds in terms of fun to drive/fuel economy. (£20 a year road tax also).

Would be lovely to hand over two cars + cash and drive away with 1 in one transaction.

Otherwise I can't really sell the second car until I have the new car lined up, then I need to sell my second car for the money to go towards the new one.

I recently - reluctantly - offloaded my GTI - it was getting to that 'stick or twist' stage of spend money or take the money & wait for the market to crash.

I did the latter - there was A LOT of interest.

Having sold privately before, I was happy to forego a grand or so to avoid no-shows, test-drivers and muppets in general.

I won't go into the reason, but I actually sold to Webuyanycar - with my eyes wide open, but Motorway came across as very professional.

Sold both my car and my partners via motorway.com

I wished I'd sold them private personally. The amount of effort I had to go to and we were both messed around with hardly any support help from Motorway themselves.

I sold my car 2021 and penned it down to being a one off issue because a buyer was found quickly (the process was just a pain).

However, almost similar happened over a year later but made worst by the fact this time it was a pick up person sent to take the car away (rather than the buyer) and so this complicated matters even more as the buyer got cold feet as the pick up person was there (which I believe they shouldn't be allowed to do) and motorway seemed to not care at all until we told them we were going to send the pick up person away and remove the car from their website.

I you've got a little bit of extra time on your hands, 100% sell it private to a private buyer. Motorway is a peer to peer version of WeBuyAnyCar and they'll hammer you down when ever they can and the customer service will be shocking.

I've just finished selling some twenty or more items on eBay, I've moved to apple, so I sold all my windows and android devices.

Dealing with the numpties and the scammers, what a pain that was, having to remove bids and ban people all the time. No chance of just list something, wait for the auction to end, get paid and post it. Constant management of the listings, dealing with absolute idiots!

When sister in law sold car she sold it via a dealer but not to the dealer.

Dealer basically put it on forecourt, handled the sale, effectively sold it, and took commission on the sale.

Go less than if selling private but more than trade in and no hassle.
