Which vehicles are more relevant to UKBF members?

Good morning all and happy Friday!

With the aim of making our marketplace car leasing/contract hire offers as relevant as possible, we wanted to ask UKBF members what types of vehicles they'd like us to stick to e.g. small vans, economical hatchbacks, pickup trucks or family cars?

Instead of a poll, we'll let members be as specific as they like - and thanks to all who genuinely contribute. We originally posted this in the Marketplace but then realised most members won't be able to post replies - doh!

I'm considering leasing a vehicle currently.

Must be 4wd, either pickup or v large boot, 5 full seat belts. Other than that don't care.

I'd be interested in some coatings.

Only sticking point - 50'000 miles/year

Large stuff with lots of options doesn't do well on hire in the UK as they offer little residual on the options. Just had to buy an X3 35d with 13k options because of this.

A host of "Options" on a S/H vehicle will do very little for the residual value above the book price.

Not a problem if you intend getting 80% - 100% of the vehicles useful life for yourself.

It is quite possible to buy a used car with 50% of it's useful life left for no more than the cost of it's year one depreciation.

We currently have a VW Caddy and a Vauxhall Combo, next time we will probably look for something bigger, such as the Citroen Dispatch. Not necessarily that manufacture.

We all don't like to spend much for fuel, so economical cars solve this problem. If smart can invent a vehicle like Smart ForTwo, making it longer to fit 4-5 passengers. I know there is ForFour, but I don't like it's design

I know they're slightly bigger but many models from the recent supermini proliferation offer plenty of room for 4-5 adults despite being relatively tiny on the outside.

I am in Motorhome Hire, so constantly moving around a lot of gear from the motorhomes to home. At least until we can find premises to keep it in the same place, which is easier said than done!

I used to spend a fortune driving nice flash sports cars. I now do almost no business mileage and have no desire to spend a fortune on fuel or road tax and dont feel then need to drive anything flash any more. A cheap and cheerful small hatchback suits my needs.

Still love my two wheels though - the kind with a 1000cc engine

Leasing isn’t for me either.

My current car is Ford Fiesta and can do 0 to 60 in a couple of days. Currently has only 17,000 miles on the clock (helped by a 12 month ban!) so I plan on running it for a few more years.

i've noticed a lot of managers and the likes going for merc's saloons these days, maybe something to do with their F1 success. i would love a ferrari but my g/f would kill me for a wide range of reasons.

I would like a big old 25 year old s class merc I prefer the old vehicles . At the moment have a rented Ford Galaxy and I own the vans but they are older as I maintain them myself

That fits with our experiences, the cheapest vehicles often being the most popular, but with self-employed and entrepreneurs often seeking to lease a Mercedes, Audi, BMW or similar.

My own picks personally are the Hyundai i10 and Suzuki Celerio. I attended the launch of the latter and it's a cracking little car.

Not at all as there never seems be any surplus when i chop it in for the.next one, Until recently I had a BMW 330d convertible but i needed more room, a bigger boot and four wheel drive so I chopped it in for a BMW 430d xDrive Gran Coupe which gave me all three. I wasn't going to buy new but BMW offer very good interest rates on new cars

8 merc sprinters (7 bought, 1 on HP)
1 old sprinter (bought)
1 VW Crafter (bought) ((do not recomend, not as eco as merc))
1 Kia sorento (HP)
1 Kia Ce'ed (HP)
1 Merc CLS (Leased) ((got a great deal on this))

Would consider leasing all our vans at the right money, must be refrigerated, uprated suspension on rear and able to sign write. And obviously at a great price.
