Hi All,
I'm looking for the cheapest and efficient way to getting traffic to my website. I know Twitter has ads service, I have asked them the minimum cost for ads for many times, but I never answer from them. Can someone advise me?

Many thanks

:) That there is a problem indeed!

Ideally you should be looking to get traffic naturally ( Search engines etc )
So before wasting money on advertising, spend time making sure your website is 100%
Make sure that IF you get visitors from advertising or search, that they can find what they want.

Make sure they can find the stuff you need to convert your users. ( Forms etc )

Sure, I will use most cheapest way to get traffic first, then converstion,I wouldn't worry about my niche, as they are hot. I believe I only need traffic.

Hmmm. But if your traffic isnt relevant, You aint gonna convert anyone.

Your selling wholesale stuff right? Maybe join forums that have people looking for your kind of business?
Get your website added to directories ( Not for SEO, But so people can actually find you )

Thought of joining alibaba?

It sounds good, but I need to get traffic first, otherwise nobody knows, how can I chat with potential cusomer?

You need to rank high in the search engine results page to get organic traffic and this will not cost you but it will take time to earn reputation by providing engaging content for your targeted audience.

Yes, I know. So far I didn't see any effective way to let people know my website.I have all in one SEO plugin, but it seems not effective. I just registered with Directory Owner, and ukfreeindex, and also because I have business on eBay, eBay see me as their referring partner, as I put my eBay shop on my website, so they allow me to put my website URL in an relevant item description as in invitation. So as long as people read my item description, they can click the link and go my website.

One of the best ways to drive traffic is through Google sponsored adverts. If you are clever about your search terms you'll get some good results.

As for twitter, if you are using a personal account to promote your website then I just join conversation related to what you sell. Just contribute and people will look in to you and click through. If you push sales hard on social media it tends to back fire.

If you have a branded account then I would look for hash tags related to your site then make relevant posts such as "New stock in 10 bags of #loombands" that sort of thing.

There was a great article on why you should spend $1 per day on Facebook advertising (I can't post the link as I'm new but Google "Facebook advertising $1 per day" and the article is on the Moz blog) whilst there is a real mix of feelings it's certainly worth a try. Super cheap in comparison to another other PPC costs and it gives you some data (not hard set data, but something to measure nonetheless) to play with.

I spent some time for a previous company trying to get Twitter ads, after reviewing the general feedback of "too expensive and ultimately useless if you're not a real brand" I decided against it.

What do you think Facebook for wholesale business? I know Twitter is B to B, Facebook is B to C.

You could try an organised campaign on LinkedIn, depends what your products are and who your targets are. It's not cheap to do professionally and very hard to DIY. We do it for people and for some it works very well. Also: It's wrong to think of Facebook as just B to C it is more wide-ranging that that. Google Shopping requires careful organisation to work, in the back end of your site as well as in campaign planning.

Thanks! I'm interested in your idea, my target is retailer, but I don't know LinkedIn and Facebook which one is more effective.

You'll never know which one is effective until you do some testing on each platform.

It seems you have 2 target markets, retailers and consumers. Is that correct?

If this is the case I would suggest that you make contact personally with retailers. For example find an online retailer that sells complimentary products to what you have to offer and and see if there is an opportunity to promote each other.

For your online consumer market you can leverage social media traffic but you need to add value upfront. After all why would they want to buy from you as apposed to any other online shop? In other words make your offers attractive to at least get some interest. How? very simple, set up your marketing campaign as a promotional offer, such as coupons or a free gift with purchase, to sweeten the deal.

No matter what you do...always build a relationship upfront before you try and start selling right out of the gate.
