Levi

Hello,

So, we are in the market for some new hosting I only have half an idea of our needs so I'll post a basic outline.

We currently have the following:

Dedicated Server: x2
i5 2.8 Ghz
12GB RAM
2 x 1TB HDD (Raid 1?)
CentOS 5.9 (specifically not 6)
4 x IP's / 1Gbps port / unmetered (350TB fair usage)

VPS:
2 vCore
2GB Ram
25GB Raid 10
Unmetered Bandwidth / 1 IP
CentOS6

Web Hosting:
Unlimited
Databases / domains / storage / bandwidth / ftp / emails bla bla blaaa...

We currently use the dedicated servers to run a custom OS which we use as a Dial Server for our call centre. The load between the hours of 09:30 - 18:00 is constant (55% avg CPU load / 70% RAM load - with spikes). We have one server that mirrors the other so if one goes down, we can be straight back up again as its business critical...
We have a need for many more servers coming up, so this will solely come down to the SLA that can be offered and of course - price and average provisioning time.

We use the VPS as a testing ground for the changes we make to the Dialler platform so it doesn't effect the live system. - The VPS we have is entirely non reliable, we are extremely interested in moving away.

The web hosting we currently have is "fine", but the load times are mediocre.

25 Sites Hosted
10 Sub-Domains at the moment (potentially ALOT more needed)
100's of sizeable databases

Obviously, Everything I have done so far, I have gone at alone - and I am extremely proud :D... But could really do with someone to sit down with me (metaphorically) and tell me what I need.

Look forward to hearing your offerings.

Also - PLEASE for the love of god, do not just link me to your website... That will be an instant no, no for me..

Also - Everything on the current web-host would need to be migrated over for me - current size - 29GB.

I think you are looking for Cloud setup, why don't you think of migrating things to cloudstack setup. If you dont mind whats your budget, as Cloudstack setup will require minimum 3 servers Plus storage server , migration and other things wont be much of an issue once the setup is ready.

Hi Levi,

We'd love to work with you and look like we'll be a good fit.

1. Dedicated Servers from us - key USPs
- 100% network uptime SLA
- <4 hour provisioning SLA (servers are racked, ready to go at all times)
- latest hardware (Xeon E3 v3s and E5 v2s) with range of different speeds, RAM configs and disks
- real 24x7 support and aggressive response times for any management plans

You can see the full list of servers at http://www.webhostingbuzz.co.uk/dedicated-servers.php. I'm happy to talk discounts for multiple servers / bulk orders

2. VPS from us are similar to dedicated in we take the high road on quality but pricing is very middle of the road (note - these aren't horribly oversold OpenVZ boxes that crash/barely can run a website - sounds like you might have one of these at present). Full listings are at http://www.webhostingbuzz.co.uk/virtual-private-servers.php

3. We also offer shared hosting, full plans at http://www.webhostingbuzz.co.uk/web-hosting.php

I have a flight later today but will endeavour to check this thread when I land to see if you have questions. Alternatively my email is matt[at]webhostingbuzz.com and I'll pick this up over the weekend.

Our datacentre is in Nottinghamshire, so not a million miles from Halifax if you wanted to pop down for a tour.

Matt

We can provide the following solution based on Vmware with daily off-site backups via Veeam

Enterprise S750 VDS
4 x Xeon vCPU Cores
12GB RAM DDR3 ECC Memory
750GB (EMC VNX5700 SAN Storage)
1Gbps Port Speed with 10TB Data Transfer

Monthly Cost £399.00 + VAT

The benefit of this solution is that if the server node you are connected to was to develop a fault, we could mount your server on another node and resume service.

Each server node features 2 x Intel Xeon 6 Core CPU's with 12 Hyper Threads and 64GB Ram so you will also benefit from easy upgrades / downgrades.

Can you explain why that solution would be better? Also, My current budget is not the highest in the world - All in right now I am paying only £210 per month. However, I am aware that this number will increase.

Thanks Webhostingbuz I am going to give you a call tomorrow to discuss, however, I am quite certain shared hosting for our websites wont be appropriate, I can explain in more detail over the phone.

I feel like I would need two of these services just to match my current dedicated server setup? I also, absolutely do not like the idea of sharing the resources on a machine - The things we are running are rather demanding (and apparently don't really work overly well in a virtualised environment)

Any other suggestions?

Please make sure you reference this thread as our team that answer the phone are unlikely to be familiar with it. I am currently in the US but can be reached via email - matt[at]webhostingbuzz.com if you wish.
