Web Designer giving me grief

The site's url has been posted a few times on this thread its letsallbuy.com. The web designer has left a footer tag with their url too, and their web site (if it is them) is professional and includes a contact name, address, and telephone number.

As has been said before. There are always two sides to every story.

Did I miss it :|

Do you have the web designers business address and phone number?

EDIT: Thanks kulture, so the designer has a business address which looks like an office / residential room above a shop, and a phone number. OP, have you called the guy and tried to iron this one out??

I am not going to post it here. After all the design company link on the letsallbuy.com site may not be the designer being complained about. But the have a web site which has all the proper contact details.

BUT letsallbuy.com is on their customer portfolio!!!

There is always a question about doing due diligence with employing a company, some simple detective work says:
<<information removed by mod>>

not judging rights or wrongs in this situation - but just illustrating that it is not difficult, for someone not even involved, to find sufficient background to make a decision, even easier for someone involved.

Poor form posting those details. Of course everyone could find them, now you're responsible for associating his name to "web designer giving me grief".

fair point - have edited... to show the process only which was all I was trying to illustrate - not meaning to do more than that... (though disagree on responsibility when the URL is posted and the designer links from it!)

I do think though that it is important to do due diligence when employing a company...

I think the OP chose this guy because he knew him. It is seldom a good idea to work with people you know particularly when the facts and information available point to potential problems.

i've fulfilled everything so far, and for a couple of small errors you don't stand much chance in court.

one more email, and i block your emails too.
then you will have no form of communication.

you will only be notified when any other changes occur.

No matter how much a client annoyed me I'd never speak to them like that... I'm shocked!

Set up an account with voipfone.co.uk. Buy a uk inbound phone number and 1 extension (total cost - less than £4 per month with no contract), and add literally a couple of quid to the account. You can get a free software based phone that will work with it. You can then make calls over VOIP and voipfone have an option to record all calls made (at a cost of 2.5p per min + vat)

Lets get real here

The op states he had a problem withe the site and asked for it to be fixed over the weekend

The designer said he would

The OP then kept emailing him to get it finished before the weekend had finished and he wonders why the designer is pissed off with the hassel

For some reason the designer is still working and has deleted a part of the site but looks like repaired a bit to, knowbody knows if the designer has saved the deleted part and is just trying to troubleshoot the software

OP is up in arms and wants to take himto small claims rather than say sorry for hasseling you and slagging you off on the forums, can we get back to where we were

Prehapse someone can tell me where I have gone wrong in assuming OP is a knobhead who wants his nappy changed

Don't know what is going on but its basically a good site that needs a little work and 1200 pounds seems good value for money.

Nothings ever 100% first time. Definitely need to work with your web designer, or anyone else for that matter, not have an argument.

Glad to hear it. While everybody would understand your frustration; it's a fact of life that crap happens and people seldom respond well to ultimatums. Anyway, it's history now; onwards and upwards.

a good site! a little work! wow im glad you dont do work for me!

I'm not a web designer but what I do find is that as a group they seem to have their own idea what a site should look like.

Trouble is people who use the sites rarely agree with the consensus they have reached

I would gladly use this site and buy things off it if the purchase represented fair value for money and there was no problem with the cart

As for my own sites I use Serif Webplus. I've seen too many of my clients being messed around and overcharged by webdesigners to want to get involved with them.

say sorry?

sites still not working though.

the sites kind of working, hes given me the understanding that the site will be fully working in about a week with the problems and addons we agreed on fixed and added.. Ive stopped adding products for now as i don't want to cause a conflict like i did last time

adding products to a database is hardly going to cause a problem. I imagine there is a clash of personalities here!

I would have to agree and disagree. Adding products to a database on an unfinished site can cause problems. The developer may need to backup and restore backups from previous days to fix a broken change, the developer could want to change the database structure for some reason, the developer may have other unforseen reasons to fiddle and play with the site design take it down and change etc etc etc. I would only start adding the full live product list when the developer has finished and/or indicated it is ready to create the catalogue.

There clearly is a clash of personalities/expectations here.

This is true, but also it is down to the developer to inform the client when to/ not to actually start inputting data. Glad you sorted it all out.

That is true but having mapped out and put everything together the database should have been one of the first things done.

To start changing things around after would suggest things have not been planned out correctly.

Where is the 'design' in that web design? Looks like you've paid £1200 for someone to upload opencart to your hosting.

apparently hes still working on the design :| at the moment there's a problem with the cart it wont allow to add products to it. i have spoken to the designer and he says he will get it all done in the next 2 weeks..

just hoping he can get it done sooner as i am missing Christmas shopping. and also V.A.T goes up to 20% in January, :(

Hiya Folks,

i recently asked someone who i know but lives in Scotland who is a freelance web designer to make me a website. The website has nothing but errors i now have a website without a functioning shopping cart. He says he will get it fixed over the weekend and this was friday evening. Its now sunday afternoon and still no fix.. i sent him an email this morning and asked him if it will get fixed today as i need the cart functioning. i get an email back saying
stop harassing me ive answered this quesion already. he hasn't even answered me on this and it seems he is fobbing me off..

just about 30 minutes ago he was abusive and rude on msn and i have kept the chat history to what he has said .. small transcript of what he said.

God damn name & shame him - ridiculous behaviour if you ask me

Fairly easy to find the person hired through this thread, but I do agree, his website and details should be exposed here so this thread comes up when people search for him on search engines. Googling his company and name, the terms aren't very competitive.

Why? It has not yet been properly established that there is anything to expose. We cannot blindly take one person's word against another's.

the problem has been resolved.. so now can we drop it please.. there's no need to carry on posting on this subject matter..

if there's a mod available can we close this thread please.
