SEO Joomla Website - Alt Tags

Dear all,

May sound ridiculous but I don't know how to optimise the images on my joomla website.

I think I have a good grasp of the remaining SEO but not the ALT tags and none of my images show in google.

Please can somebody point me in the right direction or let me know how or where to get started?

Sorry to hijack the post - but can someone tell me whether it is possible to add ALT tags in CubeCart? I have not been able to work out how to add them....

yes you do it when you upload or ad the image

Tip for alt tag usage: make sure you describe what the image shows in a short and succinct manner. No need to write "images of" or "photo of" at the start of the alt tag, just "girl with red balloon" will do.
