Bogoff?

Driving home last night from the airport, I noticed a billboard for a local grocery chain with the following website displayed in big, bold letters: www.{store name}.com/BOGO. What does 'BOGO' stand for? It turns out, it's for Buy One Get One Free. At least someone had the sense to leave off the 'F', and to avoid 'Buy One Get One For Free', but it's still a little cryptic.

Have you really not seen BOGOF used before? I'm surprised, it is a pretty commonly used buzzword in retailing and trade retailing. If you liked BOGOF you will like WIGIG. Ten points to the first person to correctly identify what WIGIG is.

I remember when we lived in Ca the expression was buy one, get one....whereas here in the UK we add the free (maybe Brits need that added incentive lol)

Those all seem to come under the acronym FUBAR BUNDY:

(F**ked up beyond all recognition, but unfortunately not dead yet)!

'Buy one get one' just sounds like the basic concept of selling to me. BOGO seems more like a branded acronym instead of one which people can understand logically.

Just goes to show who does not usually do the shopping around our place. ;)

I've never come across it either Steve and I'm not exactly a stranger to retail as a trader or a consumer.

I think buzz words are great if you can be sure everyone knows what they mean but crap if they alientate the consumer.

That said it took me a while to get to grips with

'ROFL'

So maybe it's just me and dementia setting in!

AAh reminds me of the classic FOAD from my school days, to offensive to explain here though.

This jus reminded me of last nights tiresome antics. My girlfriend has become a 'bedtime racist' for the last two nights in a row she been making some form of racial comment or another in her sleep. Last night she was telling me all about T.O.A.Ds whilst she was asleep. I asked her what it stood for and she said Terrorists Of Asian Descent.

I was shocked not only that she had said it but that she had been able to come up with that acronym in her sleep. I've just googled it and there is no reference online. Has anyone else heard of it before? Does anyone kno how to cure my g/f of bedtime racism?
