Hi,

I have just started designing small websites for people.

Does anyone have access to a 'seo checklist', a list of essential things that should added to a website.EG,

1. Good title tags
2. meta infomation
3. Header tags
4. Alt image tags,
5. etc, etc,

I know theres a few people on here who are really good at this stuff and would like to know what they do

Cheers, Big J

Research the latest SE technology and trends. Keep up to speed with the various SEO blogs.

Review the the aim of the site, the target audience and the content.

Check the navigation anchor text and the logical flow of the documents.

Ensure the content is written for humans.

Add headers, write full titles and then the description.

That's about it really.

Most of the SEO is done long before you even start building the site.

This is an excellent article from Cre8asiteforums

Also worth reading is the SEOmoz guide for beginners

But miost importantly, follow the google guidelines (as reccomended by OWG)

Not tried crazy Egg in ages, but yes it's an excellent tool.

Clicky adds a graphic to your site, where as stat counter and GA don't. Is there a way around this?

(sorry bigJ for side tracking your original post)

thanks for the info everyone. Another question, do you add the cost of optimising the site for seo or do you include it the overall cost/s?

SEO is part of the design so there should be no need to charge extra.

In fact SEO begins almost before you meet with the client.
