Hi Mathew,

If you are looking to batch convert them you can try using 'Antiword' Windows version... Get it from: http://www.informatik.uni-frankfurt.de/~markus/antiword/

Extract it into c:\antiword. Then in a dos window run something like:
"antiword -m cp852.txt *.doc > filename.txt" (without the speech marks). It gives an error about your HOME variable, but it still converts. That command will copy all documents in the antiword folder to one .txt file.

Hope this helps!

Baz

Hi vshosting,

You are maybe right in theory, but I dont think thats what Mathew is after (I may of course be wrong!!!)... If you rename a .doc to .txt and open in notepad for example, you will get pages of rubbish text... The antiword app will extract the body text of the document and store it in a flat text file or files.

The alternative as datahound already said is open in word and save as text for the 200 files...

Cheers,

Baz
