Wood supply Eastern Europe

Hi all, we are a startup company (side hustle level at present) making large pet furniture and we are hoping to move to higher volumes in the future. I’ve contacted Chinese manufacturers for hard/soft wood planks and they are good quotes but the transport costs to England are far too high due to weight and volume (10 prototype samples of our finished product weighs 200+kg). Has anyone worked with any Eastern European factories or similar, for reasonable rates and delivery costs?

I know a few sawn timber suppliers in both EU and China , could you tell me a bit more on the dimensions of the wood planks you are interested in importing ? also do you want it as sawn timber , plywood or MDF?

Hi there,

We are using carpentry grade pine at the moment in planks 120x20mm (lengths 700 & 1440 mostly).. we have these planed to a nice finish and some planks have through holes, others 8 holes 15mm deep holes, so it’s like flat pack furniture style but in solid wood. We had a dirt cheap quote from china but transport and port cost were huge so pointless on our scale!
