Why not my site?

I was thinking about the name on the site, as i have built lots of links up for the fantasywardrobe domain though would i be able to keep that domain and then have it redirecting to a new domain name where the site it?

Will have a new name brainstorm to reflect a clothing store.

Gemma

You should be able to keep the existing domain and have all traffic forwarded from there.

This would mean all links from fantasywardrobe would end up at your new domain.

Working on getting a contact number on the front page and also looking at the web name to describe what we actually do

Gemma
when I first started I worked from home, so I got an 0800 number and got ir diverted to my mobile.yes I had to pay for the calls and for the diversion but it meant I could put a number down and answer it almost anywhere.just a thought,
as for your name, I agree its not the best of names.
your items are cheap so your target customer base are those looking fro a bargain/discounts etc. try to include this in the name, if you can't use it in title tag. don't want to give examples as someone may pip you to the post!;)

Go back to the future young lady. What were the most succssful general stores of all time called. You know the ones that used to sell everything from leather belts and boots to a roll of Irish lace so the settlers wife could make her pinny and under garments. The Trading Post of course.

How about Gemmas Trading Post or even more trendy Shack. GTS.

After all ex-cat means postal returns.
I like second one

Does anyone know a website that includes some good product descritpions on clothing that actually sell the items?

I wonder if there would be someone out there to outsource to do this

Gemma
look at ebay but look at your competition, how do they do it?
if you are sellign cheap fashion items, customers are shopping on a budget and usually ina hurry so keep it simpe but with just enough info to answer their questions
for example this is basic, I found this one and If I was in a hurry this tells me all I need to know
Description :

Sexy one-strap backless party dress.
Gorgeous design.
Elasticated shiny fabric.
Fully lined.
Asymmetric hem.
The length:
- shorter side is 29''
- longer side is 47''

but this style would get me to buy, even I had just intended to browse

standard delivery is usually within 3-5 working days at £3.95

You’ll be hot off the press in this fun and quirky newspaper print 2 in 1 belted dress. Dress features buckle to the left hand side, short sleeves, chunky waist belt and a figure flattering tulip shape skirt in an all over fun newspaper print.
machine washable, viscose 96%, elastane 4%

I would maybe do a mixture of both as including measurements will cut down on telephone calls for them and if you can't be there to answer you lose a sale, washing instructions are a must.

These 1970 style crimpilene slacks are a must for any couch potato. Truly generous elasticised waistband so whatever your size you won't notice how fat your getting when you can stuff yourself full of chips & chocolates while watching Jordon eating slugs in the jungle.

Easy machine washable and non-iron when baby vomits in your lap after being fed that disgusting gunge you just paid £2 quid for a small jar in the supermarket. The best news of all however is the colour range. Deep maroon - bright green or blue and of course fluorescent orange. That means that you can roll them up to the knee in summer and no-one will notice your varicose veins.

We have trouble with the visit traffic at the beginning, a forum may help, we do not apply it yet. I agree that more harm than good if there are few visitors come, especially for new website with limited traffic everyday.

I use AdWords as one way to advertise my store. It's a great starting point where you can see almost instant results. It does take some time to get your head ahead around it and can prove quite costly. There's many guides on the internet that'll help you get started, which I strongly suggest you read before spending a penny.

A forum can prove useful for your customers and it also helps build a loyal customer base. However, if it's not very busy they can do more harm than good. I'd wait at least until you have a few regular customers and a steady volume of traffic.

Gemma, i have visited your website.
I think you need to add more details for item description.
The price is all right, but the customer may get worried about the thing they really receive because no size, material, style.
Make it more professional, it would attract more eyes.

Hi there

Not sure if this has been mentioned previously, but I think you would benefit from creating landing pages for your product categories. At the moment, if you click on any of the product categories, you are faced with pretty much a blank page. This is not ideal for three reasons. First, usability - you are forcing the visitor to click again to view the products. Second, this is poor for SEO. Third, it doesn't look v pretty.

If you only have one type of product under each category (e.g. as you have under accesssories or beauty), then you should really put these on the top level menu, if possible. For product categories where you have subcategories, you need to create a landing page (copy giving an overview of your product range with graphics/links to the relevant pages).

Thanks

BrightIdeas.
