who to approach?

Ive been working for a year for nothing just time firstly on a free forum which died out and now on a facebook group page for mums and women at home. The facebook page has got popular lately and I have quite an audience of mums. Recently had some mums come from a well know parenting site?

Who can I approach to see if they want a mention and a link to their sites for a reasonable price? One person has approached me who is thinking of setting up a business and wanted to advertise. I am waiting for them toget their launch date?

Has anyone any ideas to make money on my group page? Would companies be interested in running competitions?

No I hadnt thought of that. Thanks. You cant see the group posts unless you request to join though.Its not open for everyone to see unless your a member. Only the members would see the wall post about that.

I've had a quick look and the major barrier I can see for potential monetization opportunities is that 54 members can be considered as a relatively small community. Look at this from an advertiser perspective - if you assume potential conversion (however defined) even at 5-10%, we are still talking only about 2-5 people who MIGHT be interested in the product/service advertised. So ad spend and your revenue would be relatively small.

Another challenge is that it's a closed group, hence potential exposure is limited only to group members.

People use FB typically for socializing in their leisure time, not as an ecommerce platform to buy things. If you start seeding ads or "sponsored" information, the likely outcome is that it'll will be divert your members away.

Have you considered opening this group to anyone? It'll require heavier moderation but you may gain members quicker.

This are pretty general comments, surely there are number of examples when the above does not apply.

yes its small atm but growing all the time and I have just added a few members. I also have a database of 100 email adds also from when I had a forum for parents. Dont be negative

I dont think the members on my face book group page would turn away because of some sponsored ads. Most of them would agree I need to make some money. I have been working for a year building up a forum then a page. They all seem to appreciate me.

I also am interested in running a competition on there or two which will keep people interested. If anyone is interested?

I am open to any ideas? Could anyone give any advice on a blog would that help get more people/and or make any money?

I think I could have something here.I just need some guidance.In the meantime I will carry on trying to build up the numbers.

Thats probably because you didnt answer the question. Your community forums havent been posted on in months. I guess you are struggling. I think there simply are too many parent forums around now. Thats why I moved over to facebook. People seem to like it as its instant.

Other ways to generate revenue could be to run some webinars - eg interviews with parenting experts - or to write and sell an ebook based on the content of the page.

you could set up a website with a contact me function on it, but the issue is then how to direct traffic to it.

If it was me, I would say get a few companies involved (which you are doing anyway), then when thats all ticking over nicely, contact some of their competitors and ask if they would like to be involved. If possible, provide stats of the success XYZ company had with their campaign.

I like to see who I am adding and make sure they fit the criteria. It might be spoilt if anyone could just say anything at any time. I am the only admin at the moment.

I am not having a problem getting people to request to join when I went on facebook i had 7 people waiting tobe accepted. I will carry on like this at the moment. Thanks for comment.

Makes sense. As a mums forums you need to consider the members may be discussing personal/health/relationship issues and so to keep them you need to moderate it like a forum to keep the vibe that they enjoy and makes them comfy.

Is there anyway that you can allow ppl to browse but not join, that way any advertising would be visible to all but you still control who joins up?
