I have my own server so manage my own emails.

Gmail for me would be useless as it blocks attaching executables.

If someone doesn't like Gmail, they can use Thunderbird.
That makes no sense at all. Thunderbird (or outlook) is just an email client, you would still need an email provider.

Yes, me too, because I can.

    And utterly superb 24/7/365 support.
Absolutely. Can't understand the appeal of gmail, I find it awful, it's not just executables that it blocks.

I told two people this week, gmail fans, that I'm not going to bother emailing them any more if they can't sort out their useless bloody email. One was a potential client, but I don't care. I'm sick to the back teeth of telling them to look in their spam folder ...and, no, I'm not going to do any more to convince gmail that I'm not a spammer - DKIM, SPF, reverse DNS etc etc should be sufficient! (And the fact that my IP has had a clean history since I got it two years ago.)

    You *might* consider DNS whitelist.

    dnswl.org

A listing there has an effect on Spamassassin scores. A profound effect (-5.0) if you can get into the top category.

There is a self service portal to register your domain and MTA's IP address. What's not obvious is to make sure to fill in the country and category before you try to register the IP address or it may be rejected.

And a tip I got from one of dnswl admins: if you do any bulk mailing, do it from a different IP address than your regular mail.

Well I wouldn’t use 123reg for hosting. Move to a decent host and use their email.

Office 365. The E1 plan costs £6.00 per user per month. I use both the web client OWA and Outlook.

There are no restrictions of what can be sent out unless the domain admin restricts the sending of particular things. The set allows for control over items containing NI numbers , Swift Codes and other material which could be sensitive. It also allows for domain wide control over attachment sending (switched off by default).

In addition you get all the other O365 benefits.

Yes, but if the recipient uses gmail attachments can bork the system.
