Which database service for a small recruitment company?

I am helping a member of my family to grow his successful, one man band, specialised recruitment agency.

At present, he keeps all his client/candidates data on an Excel file. We are looking for a cloud-based recruitment database service.

Most important features for us would be:

• Ability to quickly generate emails shots from lists – e.g. we would like to be able to email one candidate profile with CV attached to a list of clients that we would select by a simple query (e.g. send an email with this profile to all our clients “consultancies” in “Northern Europe”)
• Ability to create simple search queries in our database (e.g. find all candidates with experience xyz, job title xyz and who have worked in Asia in the past.
• A user friendly solution, with a short-ish learning curve, good support and scalability.

There are tons of solutions out there, so we would love to hear the feedback from people who have actually tried these solutions out.

I don’t currently use it but I’ve used it in the past but it was by far the best.

Others that I’ve used include RDP Pro, RPM (good but expensive), Bond Adapt.

Bullhorn is by far the best I’ve used.

Have you thought of rolling your own? If it's a one man operation then surely you only need certain specific features. This would bring down the cost of a custom solution. If you need to expand in the future, it would be possible too.

Online platforms are ready to use and have a lot of features, also cost less in the short term. But if you think long term, you will see that clearly they become way more expensive than a custom solution and also most of the time you get locked-in.

Thought about it but then,ssupport becomes more of a problem than an off the shelf solution. And the main user wanted off the shelf. Thanks for y this input.

Support is not a problem if you hire a competent company. You know they will be there and even if not, you can hire another competent company to take over. You cannot get rid of support concerns on any platform. Good luck!
