Hey guys,

I am going to write blog for my business. Which would be more useful: to post the blog on website or somwhere else like blogspot.com? Or maybe both?

And I am also thinking about buying some articles in uk, maybe you know some trustworthy websites?

Thank you for your answers.

It's a great question, and one your doing well to ask before you spend a lot of time and money on content.

100% any content you produce should go on YOUR site. Content takes time, and if done properly is a huge asset to your website in terms of equity with Google, and long term traffic.

    Imagine you have a business reconditioning Rolex watches (for example). You write a fantastic article about the history of Rolex, slightly signposting your own services. The article goes good-guns, trends socially and starts generating traffic. Now imagine two scenarios;

    1. You published the article on your website
    2. You published it on blogspot.com

    Scenario 1
The users come, read the article, and generally find it informative. Because you have an attractive, well structured website with good calls to action, some of the users click your ENQUIRY button, and contact you regarding your services.

    RESULT!

    Scenario 2
As above, users come, read the article, and generally find it informative. However, the website they are on is blogger.com. It doesn't seem to be a website offering any product, or any services....its just someones blog. There may be a link which can offer to take the user to your website....but that doesn't look anything like the site which contained the article they enjoyed reading. Your gonna have an up-hill struggle trying to convert visitors on blogger.com into sales on yourwebsite.com

In terms of buying articles; It really depends on what the focus is; Are you looking for content to push out socially? Content to improve your websites? Or content to target new traffic organically on Google? If it's Google traffic you are looking for, then your content needs to target specific traffic/keywords, and the writer will needs skills aside from just being good at writing.

Have a thinking about a content strategy, or engage with an agency/freelancer who can help you with a content strategy.

    Best of luck.

It's crazy that nobody is recommending this, but you should definitely look at Medium.

It's free and requires less setup than a lot of other free options, including blogspot.

A 2017 statistic showed it to have 60 million monthly readers...

You can get featured on publications on Medium. I've been featured on several, most recently The Startup with 500,000 subscribers.

What other free platform is going to give you those kinds of possibilities?

There are a lot more benefits to blogging on Medium, but I think for someone trying to reach a business crowd it's worth remembering that most of the readers there are businesses, entrepreneurs and startups.

The integrated audience and possibility for discovery make it to good to ignore right now, and it's achieved that whereas WordPress and Blogger failed to do so on their free platforms.

    I can't recommend it enough.

There is a heavy price for that. Have they not removed the option to use a custom domain? So its all their branding, their position in search result, etc. that get boosted by your work. Whatever changes they make in the long run you are stuck with them.

It might still be worth it if you get enough readership, but I am not convinced its the best decision long term.

100% agree with the comment about Medium- has been a fantastic starting point for us to get our content our there and has brought a significant amount of traffic to our new website.

We have done the paid for articles and I find they are rubbish for lead generation- helps with a backlink but a very expensive backlink basically.

I'd recommend using Medium.com to host your blog. It's really easy to set up a company page, has nice formatting, is used worldwide and you can use it to include links back to your website (helping to build search credibility).

After publishing a few posts, you might also be asked if you want Medium to share your content with their paid members. It's a great way of getting featured in their newsletters and reaching more audiences.

There are many good platforms. Wordpress dominates the market but there are quite a few players in this industry like squarespace, weebly, wix, blogger etc

You need to also decide based on your budget. Blogger probly will be the cheapest but it doesnt have great looks like wix, wordpress, weebly and others.

Weebly is probly easiest to use for a novice but if you want to connect your domain to your website it will be costly

With Wordpress, you would get a lot of plugins and widgets.

Wix will probly give your website the best looks
