Where to look for a reliable accountant

Where can I go to look for a reliable accountant?

I have an ecommerce store on shopify platform. Started my business last year. Using quickfile.

Well you start local, get meeting them (interviewing them) and don't just go by the charges but go with the one you feel you can work with. If you know people local to you who are they using. In my opinion what you don't want to do is have one for, arguments sake in London and you live in Leeds makes having meetings rather difficult. However there's many accountants on here who may disagree with me.

As @WaveJumper suggested, visit a couple local ones and have a chat.

Ask for local recommendations from fellow business owners.

There is also the QuickFile Accountants listing on their website - whether they are reliable or not is another question.

I'm going to contradict myself here.
I am someone who likes to use a local accountant, because I'm old and like to sit down face to face to talk through my business needs with them, and look them in the eye. That to me is important...but....
I am going to disagree with some of the comments above. If you're one of these 'ere new trendy young'uns who are into these 'ere technology stuff - your accountant can be anywhere. You can have meetings by video call, because the skills you need from an account isn't locked in the cupboard in their office. You need someone who gets you, gets your business, and can provide you the right advice at a fair rate .
