Whats a good livechat

We have currently being with live chat inc and zopim and would like to know if their is any other live chats what are outstanding. Preferable 1 what has allows unlimited departments for no extra price.

You will likely only get unlimited depts or agents with a self hosted chat app since more agents will mean more bandwidth (cost) for any hosted service. The one we use called LiveHelpMessenger has unlimited agents.

We've been using Comm100 since they started and they were originally free. The have since started charging so I think we must have been the guinea pigs. Luckily they have left us alone and not started charging us although we are on the basic package.

For self hosted you can try Live help by stardevelop - it's quite affordable:

Having compared zopim, livechatinc and a few others Olark.co.uk stands out from the crowd for us.

Want my opinion? Host your own. If your server cant cope with the extra load, you need to upgrade already, so that shouldn't factor into it.

But this way, the only time your chat might be down is if your server (and therefore entire site) is down, so nothing lost..

No matter how good third party services are, they can still cost you dearly when their system is down, and charge you for the privilege..
