Hi all,

I'm looking in to developing a new product that can identify long tail keywords that drive traffic to ecommerce websites. I am planning on selling this new product as a subscription web service. I would like to ask the people who use long tail keywords as part of there marketing strategy two things:
Is the subscription model the best for your business, if not what would you prefer?
What price would you pay, for a real time report on long tail keywords that dirve traffic to your site?

Many thanks,

K&Q

You maybe need to explain that more ? how do you intend to get that working ?

For me personally I would rather do the research myself.

If you're offering a subscription service it would have to be very cheap, probably a fiver or less for me.

Long tail keywords are incredibly important. There are already tools out there available for a 1 time fee that will accomplish something simiar.

You might be better off writing amazingly good LSI content at £20 a pop or something.

Or run a subscription service for that, £50 per month for 3 bits of content or something?

Just my thoughts and I'm sure others will feel differently!

Thanks for the responses, keep them coming! I'm trying to establish if I should create a prototype of the service. It would then take a competent developer about two hours to integrate the service into a website.

The concept at the moment is that the service will identify common queries people use to find products or services that your customers use when looking to buy a product sold on your site (It would also be able to identify search queries terms that have driven traffic to your site but which you don't sell) . It will highlight trends such as growth phrases, seasonal search terms, common search terms, new long tail phrases, and frequency of use by customers. All this could be analysed over time to help monitor marketing campaigns.

I like the idea of the LSI content defiantly an up-sell opportunity once the key phrases have been identified.

Maybe I don't understand what you are offering, so perhap you could highlight the differences / improvements between your proposed system and Google Analytics linked to WebMaster Tools search queries.

The improvements the system would offer compared to Google Analytics and Webmaster Tools is a more focused reporting tool for reporting long tail search queries and how they relate to the customers website. Such as linking products to search terms, automate the notification to customers of new or trending search queries. Neither of these are done in GA or WT, they both need to be analysed to find the nuggets of information where this system would highlight important phrases and how they relate to the product mix on the site, saving the customer time.

This tool would allow the customer to produce more targeted campaigns that would increase traffic to the site while reducing its cost per customer acquisition.

I can think of a similar sounding tool that starts its charging at about 10 dollars a month and goes up to about 80 a month I think (I think the lowest rate doesn't offer all of the functionality of the next level up and then after that it's based on monthly visitors).

If I were you I'd go subscription based with a lower monthly cost, but that's just me.
