What Accountancy Package do you use?

I stupidly signed up for the barclays business manager which has clearly bookkeeping / quick books on it - it must be good , but I just can't be bothered with it (and I signed myself up for 12 months!!!).

I just pay my accountant to do everything, which would be considered cheap if i hadn't subscribed to this.

I would like to use something this in the future perhaps, but setting up requires time past invoices etc - too much work, and you have to spend weeks getting used to it.

I use Simply Books - it's straightforward to learn and ideal for my needs. What's more the trial came free with my Abbey National business account and I got a discount when I bought the full version.

Possibly a silly thought and looking at the posts here tends to go against the grain. Sage is still at the top 65% of the UK accounting software market. AAT (Association of accounting technicians) and all top book keeping schools still train using nothing but Sage. If you decide in ten years that you want another book keeper then you may have to weigh up the pro's and con's of having to train him/her in the system you buy if all they know is Sage.

Yes

in fact i spent a year on a project team configuring it for a former employer of mine. We did the Business Process Re engineering and then configured SAP according to the business model that we put together. It was rolled out to our wolverhampton site and our Knottingley site at the same time. The template was then going to be rolled out to the European units later but they sold the company before that happened.

Total project cost £3.5million but I did earn some hefty bonuses for delivering a quality project on time and under budget

The last couple of places Ive worked rolled out SAP and it caused nothing but greif for the IT dept and users alike.

I have checked and you get realy good cash for being a SAP consultant, I would prob do it myself if I knew how.

Yep

Sap consultants with one implementation under their belt were clearing £350 to £500 per day. Two or more implementations were getting £700 per day upwards.

Only problem was the fact that you had to be prepared to travel anywhere.

One consultant working with our project team was also doing weeks at a time at a site in Norway. Getting into work at 5:00 am finishing at arounnd 2:00pm and going back to the hotel, eating and then going to bed. Not much else to do apparently.

With two young children of 2 and 4 at the time I wasnt prepared to be away from home for long periods.

We use Money manager by Moneysoft.
its good for multiple currencies and works with their stock control program (Office manager) the office manager side isn't wonderful, and you can't network it very well
