I've just discovered from another thread that they have changed their domain name to Webcouk.co.uk probably due to all the negative feedback! I believe a petition has been established when I find out more i will let you know.

Site re-directs to http://www.mysticfishcreative.com/ - i assume these are the same people? unable to find any comany details on the website (company name, number, VAT number ect)

Some of the example sites also have other "Designed by" names that re-direct back to mysticfishcreative like:

"Website design by JPC Web"

Looking at some the sites they have done and they all look a bit buggy.

I am writing on this forum to ensure that not even one more hard working, honest person loses money to Webcreation UK. I hired them to design my website, and that was a HUGE mistake.

From the moment I handed over my 50% deposit, the sales guy who was so readily contactable earlier, was not available on the phone and would not even acknowledge or reply to emails. He said he would support me if there were any issues!

The delayed designs I have had back are poor, but the logo designs are even worse! One design was just a picture I sent as an example with my company name pasted in! When I queried this, I was not even given a proper reason, just that they were "working with me".

As they have refused to give me a refund, I have asked for a breakdown of all costs, only to be told by their senior project manager that "I am unable to provide you with a breakdown of all of the hours that our admin, development and support team have spent on your project." The work done so far has been of poor quality, and I simply wanted to know how long had been spent on it and by whom so that they could justify keeping my deposit. This refusal has led to a complete breakdown of trust.

PLEASE PLEASE please do not use Webcreation UK. You will regret it. Their smooth talking sales guy will take your cash and disappear! Their "customer support" team will not reply to emails. Their designers will get to your changes when "they reach your email in their inbox" (another wonderful quote from the support team at Webcreation UK)

We never ask any customer for a deposit and we only invoice on a 30-day account after we have finished building a new on-line shop. We even invoice for hosting on a 30-day account.

As a result we have very loyal clients, many of whom have been with us since we started in business 12-years ago.

Companies like the one you mention give our industry a bad name.

I wish I had researched this company before wasting £1195 and 9 months of my life dealing with webcreationuk. It was such a stressful experience from start to finish. Every little detail had to be checked, redesigned, spelling errors corrected, a complete nightmare dealing with designers who don't even have a command of English. It's a joke, sometimes they would take several weeks to reply to my emails. You keep calling their UK number to complain and just get handed back to an Indian email. In the end we had to send them all the designs ourselves but the site is still very unsatisfactory and we are having problems with everything.
I am so disappointed but could kick myself for not searching for reviews before using them.
PLEASE don't even consider using this company, they are a disgrace and shouldn't be in business.

Asking for a deposit is standard practice.
Definitely. We always work on 50% up front, 50% 30 days after launch for short term projects (6 - 8 weeks), or 30% up front then milestones until complete for longer projects.
All contracted, all transparent, you can check us on companies house, street view or even foursquare! We even have our own protected twitter feed for clients only.

We're running a business and want you to come back for more, not leave with a bitter taste in your mouth and I can never understand why people conduct business like that.

I don't know of many web companies who don't take any form of deposit, I've seen it with freelancers before but usually agencies take a deposit (this is standard practice).

    Yes it is standard practise.

I've done small PHP fixes myself for people online who were very happy with the work but then changed their FTP passwords and stopped replying to email to avoid having to pay.

My own fault for being too trusting I guess but it seems silly to ask for a deposit for a couple of hours work.

For bigger jobs though, it's a must to get a deposit.

I've got to say: do your research. Find out who the company has used and get in touch with them directly for a review.

I find that people generally post positively when writing reviews of companies and by the time things have gone wrong, it's typically too late to do anything about it, so do your homework!

I'm sure others have mentioned but I looked at two of their portfolio items and one was built on Shopify, whereas the other is built on WordPress. I sincerely doubt they developed any listed in their portfolio.

Apart from this the whole site is in a terrible state, even by 2010 standards.
