Web Designer giving me grief

the problem has been resolved.. so now can we drop it please.. there's no need to carry on posting on this subject matter..

if there's a mod available can we close this thread please.

why, the webdesigner hasn`t been along yet to threaten legal action against you, but there again anyone searching for your site .......... and I`m still waiting for you to say sorry.

The website is still crap. Isn't resolved yet surely?

It will never be finished.

no you didnt, you came to have a whine ........... oops there I go again.

Like so many of us said, sort it out professionaly (sic) with the web designer in a realistic time scale.

Once again someone needs to look closer to home before laying blame everywhere else. If that was my website it would be live today.

Looks like another web designer who has taken on more work and given more promises than they can actually cope with. And is now under serious pressure.

Like so many of us said, sort it out professionaly (sic) with the web designer in a realistic time scale. I have sorted it now and yet people still comment. even you said it will never be finished, if i want to sort out professionally why do i keep getting childish remarks

i don't need to look closer to home, i know the facts and i knew there was something wrong in the way the process was going with the website.. that's why i came here for advice.

Now everything has been sorted with myself and the person doing my website i don't need anymore advice from people.

and the advice that has been given i am grateful and the not so good advice, well...!:p

we said at the start it was the designer having problems with you, nothing you`ve posted has lead anyone to think otherwise

Why do you think that hes having problems with me.. nothing i have posted would suggest that i am the cause of the problem.. you seem to have some kind of issues when people want advice and your way of solving the problem is to blame the problem on the person asking advice.. then you can say thats it problem solved. well the next time you want advice look in the mirror and think i am the problem..

then you don't need to post anywhere anymore.

also if you look at the start of the thread the first post.. you will see how the designer was talking to me or do you see that as common practice.. but then again you do seem to have that about you in your responses

I think the lesson that so many people on this thread have tried relentlessly in vain was to teach you that no matter how many of us you talked to on here, the person you actually needed to be speaking to was the designer.

We could have talked to you for weeks, but ultimately there was only one person who could sort this problem out...your designer.

We still don't have the full facts to work with but from the little information we do have it would seem that you aren't entirely without blame. Alright it seems as though your designer had a go at you in a less than satisfactory way but it would also seem that you had cornered him into this position with your requests that you wanted to confirm to unrealistic timescales. Everyone has a breaking point where professional courtesy goes out the window, it appears that you found this breaking point in your designer and pushed and pushed.

The designer's own website is half baked. He's had ample time to sort it. Whatever the OP's faults may be, the designer has been totally unprofessional.

Everyone isn't having a go at you. I'm certainly not. Welcome to the world of forum cliques.

The real moral of this story, is to find a web designer who has a portfolio you like, who gives you a detailed explanation of what work he is going to do for you, who takes the trouble to find out your level of understanding and manage your expectations properly, a designer who you can communicate with and who seems to understand what you want and where you are coming from.

Such a designer could be an amateur. In web design, it is a partnership. Between you and the designer. If you don't "jell" then the site will not be as good as it should be.

The OP clearly did not do his homework, and clearly selected a designer not up to the job that the OP needed. This does not condemn the designer (I will let his own web site do that).

if your saying that about the designer why are you persistant in having a go at me, or is this directed at me again even though i have no control over the fonts and page links that dont work.

Perfection, there do seem to be some issues with your designer and his own website. I appreciate that you have had problems and disregarding who is to blame I hope you get them sorted out quickly. Those in here who continue to have cheap shots at you are not helping and I am impressed that you have managed to keep your cool for the most part. If I were you I would leave it at that.

I have only ever got into a situation like this on one occasion and it was through unreasonable expectations from a client. After exchanging a couple of phone calls and emails I decided to cut my losses and told her that I would be returning her 50% advance fee. I had put a lot of work into her website but I was prepared to write this off rather than take any further hassle from her.

My approach must have convinced her that perhaps she was being a wee bit unreasonable and she got back to me quickly to sort things out. That was about four years ago and she is still my client. I have gone on to design another site for her and I get regular update work from her.

Perhaps I am fortunate enough that my business is well enough established and my financial situation allows me to do this but I don't hassle my clients. I treat them well and and I don't expect them to hassle me. If they do then it's goodbye.

thanx for your reply, i agree there should be some common ground and agreements in place when working with your web developer designer. I did have this at the start and we were talking about the site all the time, Because he has alot of knowledge of creating websites i left most of the design and colours to him, but he would ask if i agreed with the colours, sometimes i would agree then sometimes i wouldn't but he would try and talk me round if i didn't like them, especially the colours of the drop menu and also the colours of the side menu.

I am hoping he gets to work on the site soon as i need to start selling products and also getting some customer base. At the moment i have gone back to putting stock back on the site as i got the go ahead to do this from him.

I do feel the site is blank and has no branding to it but hopefully this will come with time..

I am closing this thread. The OP has stated twice that the matter is resolved and I think everyone has had their say at least once.

Thanks for taking part.
