I have been looking on the forums for a while and find them fascernating. I am hoping for some advice and so here is my first post
A mainstream magazine related to the industry I am in (arts and crafts) has published a photo that belongs to my company without asking permission to do this first. I found out by one of my customers showing me the publication.
I know there are rules to copyright and if they had asked me I would have given them permission but that's not the point. The fact is that they didn't ask first.
I am going to write to the editor and explain that they didn't have the right to do that and that they need to ask permission in future. I am also going to bill them if they do it again.
So my question is what do you think of this? How should I go about this as I could go nicely or be quite cross about it. Also I don't want to ruin any legal route if they ignore me and carry on lifting images from my website for their mag.
Thanks for any suggestions
Vicky
