Trello, Asana, Monday etc?

Does anyone have experience with using any of the above or another alternative for managing multiple construction / property maintenance projects?

Would need facilities for 2 or 3 office based users and maybe 4 or 5 'tradesmen'

What features do you need it to do? Have you looked at more specific project management software for the construction industry?

None of the ones you mention are suitable for construction project management

You need something like Viewpoint, Procore or Asite

We have basic jobs in....

That we assign as follows:

Visit Required
On Hold
In Progress
To Close

Then we have various checklists etc for each stage. We have 5 different streams of work, (private, insurance, 3rd party etc)

This isn't large scale work, just 1-10 day jobs for example....

Hi Gareth83, Take a look at Podio by Citrix. It is very easy to use and allows you to create a workspace to which you can control access, within which you then create 'apps', These are templates that you build using a simple drag and drop field selector (e.g. text field, number field etc) so that you can create exactly the workflow or record you need. Absolutely no technical knowledge required. Your example of a project moving through different status points is a perfect use case. It also has a mobile app. It is free for up to five employees for the simplest version so limited risk to give it a go. You only pay for employees (people who use the same company email domain) - you can invite as many external users in to the workspace at no additional charge if you use contractors etc.

You can try remote.team, it's even easier than a konban board, all you have to do is create a topic and discuss work issues, and as the discussion progresses, set tasks for each other. Monitoring of completion, postponement, or failure to meet deadlines is regulated automatically, and all participants in the process are notified accordingly. Where I work we were looking at using an app called smart sheets to create a kanban board on a tablet. It would have given everyone access to what we needed to do and allow you to achieve what you are looking for. It has a free 30 day trial I think to try it out and see what you think. We never ended up using it as it wasn't what it was billed to be by the IT guys who were trying to push it, excel was more useful for the things we wanted to use it for but i feel it could be useful in your environment

We used Monday for a bit (for product development work which is certainly multi-phased type work). Then went back to Excel/shared docs.

It just turned into yet another piece of software for us that had to be logged into and kept up to speed with. And we set e-mail notifications to come from it too, optional to do that but it turned spammy as you got loads of e-mails from it you just ended up ignoring after a while anyway. But then if you didn't you'd get someone internally e-mailing to prompt you to go into Monday to progress the project...etc. Vs the old way of just working in shared files that you would periodically dive into (which in essence Monday is, lets face it).

I could see its attractiveness to some businesses incidentally and nothing about it offended me, we tried to like it and use it but honestly was glad not to have to bother with it once we canned it.
