Sweet Vending Machine Business

Hello, guys

So I was just looking on the internet and found a sweet wending machine for £80 it's in good condition and works fine but the thing that I want to find out is,if i buy the few machines how long would it take me to earn the money back or how much would i make a month,and if i was to start,how would i need to find locations to place them.

You earn money usually from day one. And pay money usually from day one.
You are not guaranteed to make a profit.

You paying someone to host the machine, to have it plugged in, to maintain the machine, to fill the machine?

You may depending on location make a few quid a month. You could end up spending a few quid a month.

If there was an easy formula to working this out and getting our money back we would all be doing it...
You might get a very good site and be restocking the machine every few days - but a site like that would cost more. A poor site might only need restocking once a month... but cost you somewhat less. Siting the machine is the key to the success of venture.

Is this a 5p vend, or a £1 (or more) vend? A small amount vend by definition needs far more footfall past the machine to generate the same sales.

It seems your initial investment wouldn't be great - give it a go and come back and tell us what you discovered and what mistakes you made so we can all learn a bit.

I've previously considered some of your responses to be a tad 'needlessly terse, glib and pissy'.

This one is probably just 'terse, glib and pissy'.
And scores a bonus for being funny.
And a gold star for being genuinely useful. (So I gave you a lightbulb.)


Although we all need and benefit from help sometimes, maybe if, instead of trying to answer questions which unlikely got even a nanosecond of consideration before being posted, we should instead suggest 'Have you searched before posting?' and in so-doing free-up time and energy to answer more-deserving stuff instead.

I'm relatively new to this forum but the number of "Hi, I know nothing about x, tell me how much money I will make and how to do it" posts never fail to amaze me. And the responses never fail to amuse me!

It may be helpful if you give a description of the vending machine. It it gravity fed or electrical, size, what does it vend, vend price etc. I am sure once you have given us more information then we can give replies that may be of help.

Nigt club and bars seem a good location but owners will want a cut

Rather than playing with percentages for having them in their place consider a monthly rental of yearly one . you then know the costs to you and a lump sum would be better for the outlet

Many moons ago when I was young and stupid I started putting lighters in vending machines and placed them next to cigarette vending machines. Rather than pay the owners/landlords I advertised the pub/club on the lighters. Is that a viable proposition.

Trouble is so many people confuse “useful” with “what I want to hear”. The latter is rarely useful.

You could have more understanding of the profitability of the vending machine by observing them in 2 locations, one at the crowded places (eg. subway, airport) and one at less crowded places (eg. on a random street), then compare it to the location you're going to place your machine. Spend one day to do this, then alculate the cost to buy sweets, maintenance cost, etc to see if the profit can cover those cost. If yes, then start!
