Starting a small gardening business

Hello,

I am planning on starting a small gardening business mowing and strimming in my local village. I was curious if there is any laws I should follow doing this? Or do I need to register as a business if I’m just doing it to make a bit of extra money in my local area? Any help would be appreciated

If you earn more than £1,000 during the tax year you will need to register as self employed with HMRC. You should also take out public liability insurance in case you injure someone or cause any damage whilst working.

Welcome @OldMateLiam Another consideration is local council regulations in public or residential areas. You'll mostly be fine, but, for instance, a campsite may be connected near a protected area so certain spots won't allow for work like gardening. Get in touch with your local council and request information
