I wonder if someone may offer me some advice,

I currently run a dog grooming salon as a sole trader named xxxxx (business name).

I would like to now add an additional side to the business selling grooming supplies online however it will be under a different business name as the first half of the business is a dog grooming salon and the second half is grooming supplies.

Can I run them all under the one business I,e same accounting package etc etc.

I look forward to hearing back.

Kind Regards

Michael

You could run the second business as a trading name, then the accounts, banking etc would all be under one business.

So long as it is stated on any correspondence, website etc then you are ok to go ahead and use it. If you are VAT registered then you will need to put the original company VAT number on any correspondence eg invoices for the trading as company.

Hi Debbie

I think with respect you meant to say 'your' rather than company as Michael is a sole trader.

Yes that's exactly right. I was simply trying to make it as easy for Michael to understand as I could.

I always like to make sure sole traders understand they are the business whereas a company is different.
