I work part time running my small business as a sole trader.
Last year I earned £15031 (2022-2023 tax year) income before tax. I paid £961 tax and NI. I didn’t have an option for payment on account. Is this correct? Or should I have paid on account ready for this tax year (2023-2024)?
Out of my £961 tax and NI payment , I paid £493 income tax and £468 NI contribution. Does this seem right?
I am about to complete my 2023-2024 self assessment and my earning were around £14,000 for that year as I had more time off due to personal circumstances. Am I likely to pay payment on account for next year?
Also, is there any government help I can claim to boost my income? I have £17k in savings if that makes a difference.
Any help appreciated.
