Hi all.
As a sole traderm my main work covers web development, marketing and hosting but I hve been asked to provide IT support with a monthly retainer.
I'm looking for a simple, free contract that protects myself and my client.
Can anyone point me in the right direction please?
Many Thanks in Advance
Andy

Hello Andy,

I doubt such a simple thing exists. Every case is different.

But its not so difficult. You say you want a contract that protects yourself and your client. From what? The answer to that will give you much of the content of what you need.

Here is a site that might get you started.
Thank you for your reply.
I'd need protection from any issues out of my cotrol, such as third party services failing and my cliet would need protection against confidential information sharing, etc. But I get you when you say that this would give me the content. Makes sense.

There is an example NDS on gov.uk that you can adapt to cover the confidentiality thing.

It should not be too difficult to simply say you are not responsible to the client for things that are out of your control, and list some examples such as third party services failing.

What services exactly will you be providing?

You want good protection at no cost, I suggest that it does not exist, you want a well written protection and that costs a visit to a commercial solicitor. Naturally you may chose a free internet one, but after you loose your house and business you may regret it. The other alternative is to become professional which normally requires some sort of expenditure

The contract alone is not sufficient. You also need additional insurance.

You need to explain a little more about these 3rd party services. For example, do you mean MS office?
