Im new here in this forum and this is my first post
Im also new in the business field as Im growing my very first graphical designer business and an opportunity came on to managing social media and all graphical side of one business. I known the person who owns the business for ages and the time has come that he is asking for my help. The advice I would like to receive is, what would be a fair price to ask? My role would be managing his twitter, facebook and website posts, doing photoshoots on the products, editing and publishing them. And also a bit of seo. I would probably do 2-4 posts a week, at least that is what Im planning at the moment. Any advice on this would be highly appreciated!

Do you have the knowledge and skills to do this? there are at least four skills sets you would need.

If so, put a proposal together, estimating how long it will take based on your previous of providing these sort of services and the costs you have already established for the services you offer.

You don’t do ‘a bit of SEO’. You do it properly or not at all. None of the things you list about have anything to do with SEO.

He got in touch with me asking if smm is something I would do. He wants to regain the traffic he used to have on his website. I did had a look and I could see that there is a room for improvement. With the search engines he is on the right track. Basically, he had to let go two of his employees and now there is no one who would do those things for him. Therefore, for me this is a big opportunity to gain expierience and thats why Im seeking for an advice on what would be a fair price for a beginner like me. I mean, Im not totally a beginner, some good years ago I used to work with many different cms also did basic php, html stuff, but Im more focused on the graphical field, thats why Im planning to push on the smm.

Ok. But how do you know SMM will bring in traffic?

The odd tweet on twitter or a post on Facebook won’t achieve anything useful. Even SEO might not be the best idea.

Don’t do anything yet. Start by doing some market research. Identify prospective customers and where they go to find products or services. For all you know TikTok could be your best source of leads.

As to what to charge, it all depends on how valuable you are to their business. £200/per day could a good place to start.

I dont know. Its what Iv been asked to do and its something I would like to do. Pretty much win win for both of us even if he does not gain the desired amount, he will still have a good content on his socials.
Tiktok is something interesting, I created a sandbox profile and its really something worth having a deeper look. Research is always good step to start with. Thanks!

£200 per day would be if he hired me full time. In this situation Im part time while still on my regular 9-5.

If you establish the actual value of these services to the client, then you'll have a figure...
Stop thinking in terms of selling your time. That's not a business, that's a job...
I also suggest market research to find out how to reach the customers... Social media is rarely the way to go (It's social media, not selling media)...

That makes no sense. Unless your posting on social adds value there is no point in doing it.

Even your third post focused on the wrong thing. Your client doesn't want more visitors, they want more conversions. If you want visitors you can buy these for tuppence off fiverr.

You and you client need to sit down and have a real think about the marketing plan. Without this nothing you do will have any value.

As others have mentioned SMM goes beyond just graphic design, you need to research the right hashtag, the right type of content, know when to post, engage with users on your posts as well as try and grow the account by engaging with other posts, it takes time, if you have done it before you tend to know what to do and you tweak for every client, if this is your first time doing this then you will be learning as you go along, and I personally don't think it's fair to charge a client when you're learning as you go along, I would calculate what your costs are and set an hourly rate that covers that, you also need to explain to the client that you're charging them below the market rate because you're also learning on the job.
