hmmm , you havnt seen the news then about the snow in the South East - you think you have it bad

No I don't think we have got it bad ... we get 12 inches every winter - its standard around here, although for a change this year everyone else would appear to be struggling as well with it!

No aint watched tv or listened to the radio for a few days now so quite unaware of whats happening - suppose I should go watch some news then!

I'm lost. what is the relevance of snow depth to driving or getting on with normal life? It doesnt matter if 2cm or 2 foot of snow gets compacted on the roads, the surface you drive on is just as slippery!

Unless the snow on the road is above your front bumper then regardless of what you drive you can cope on anything but a steep gradient.

The problem is snow that thaws a little, then re-freezes as a thick sheet of ice on the roads. If the snow is 12 inches deep there is no reason to think your journey to work will be any less possible than if there is only a thin layer. All snow makes driving a little more difficult, at least thick snow is more fun when you're not driving.

Yea... I spent a good five minutes looning around in our industrial estate on Saturday morning. Only one in there so why not?

I've noticed that 9/10 blokes leaving the estate tug on the handbrake for the last right hander before the exit, childish but forgivable!!!

So then who has more snow and who has less as in its melting already? Its only taken some 3 weeks and I have forgotten what colour my garden used to be ... and I think it might take a few more days yet before I see it, however, the car for the first time in 3 weeks, the ice melted on it of its own accord today!!

Its snowing here in plymouth and has been since 3pm but more slushy than anything. Haldon Hill in Exeter is closed and they have snow ploughs clearing it

It's been melting fast in Manchester but we are still in Jan, so we could have a week or two and then get loads more snow. The joy of a british winter

We had about 12ins of snow here in NE Hampshire and having melted a little it was topped up again a couple of days ago.

I took my car out this morning for the first time in over a week and several residential roads were still very snowy and the car slipped and slid. However, it's been thawing all day and this evening patches of grass are becoming visible. I think the current batch is on its way out.

My mother-in-law went from just over £10k worth of bookings for the last 3 week and plus what that would bring in food and drink to taking a shocking £2k in full. Hopefully the Lake District will get busy quickly for hotel rooms for her and others in the same boat, I'd be surprised if it didn't.

Sleet forecast by the BBC for the SouthEast on Wednesday. Let's hope it stays that way and doesn't decide to turn into snow. I've had enough of it already!!
