Hi,

I am seriously considering setting up a catering business and have lots of questions!

The plan I had was preparation of ready meals - bolognese, lasagne, curries, casseroles etc etc and selling them to the public at farmers markets and potentially through mail order if it takes off.

Firstly - does anyone do anything similar and have any tips for me?

Secondly - and i think the answer to this will be no - would I be able to prepare the food at home.

Thirdly - assuming second is a no - how do I find premises with catering equipment already installed so I don't have a huge expense at the start.

Have you spoken to the people at FARMA ? They might be able to give you some useful advice on this subject. Other than that, you would probably need to speak to government food agencies regarding distance selling regulations.
