Iam starting to see a trend with these boards alot of "companies" are rebranding this chinese product and selling at 100% profit

apparently these are all made from one factory in china but my question is how would the warranty work?

if there is any!?

was contemplating investing in these but the risk just seems too much!

but then again the demand is really growing
 
I'd imagine the failure rate will be horrendous (I've used a lot of chinese based electronic kit for CNC - twatful) .....you'd certainly need a BIG markup, to offset the failure rate/support cost - if you're of the techie type, then perhaps, else run away quickly.

A segway board is not a bike..

I happen to know the worlds leading seller of the boards... if it is hte bikes *(not sure how it could be) they are massively popular in sunnier climes

It's evident that none of the posters above understand the product you are referring to.

Perhaps it's best to keep it to yourself!

They have been the biggest "gadget" for the past 2 years at the Canton Fair.

Can be used anywhere.

Warranty from factories.

Great profit margins!

I understand it's a Chinese product using Chinese electronics ....& from experience I fully understand what Chinese electronics & motors are about .....IMHO Segue (is that a verb?) away quickly!

My experience of Chinese electrons products has been (in nearly all cases) excellent. Pish-Pash, the computer you are using was made in China. The telephone you use to shout "I'm on the train!" into was made in China. Almost every electrical and electronic component on Planet Earth comes from China.

A friend of mine was visiting his OEM (electronic goods) in Shanghai and told the production manager that they required a 99% reliability rate. The production manager asked him why only 99% an how are they to know which 1% to make faulty.

PS. Them boards is dead kewl and will go with my Nicki Minaj hologram - as soon as I get one! Hey, there's a business idea - an inflatable Nicki Minaj! Tho I mite have problems with Universal Music on that one!

Sadly, the vast majority of UK buyers are focused on price and not quality, accordingly they get attracted to the cheaper suppliers who will cut corners.

In life you get what you pay for, this is especially true with China factories.

All the top brands manufacture in China.

The better factories will supply you with motors, chips & components that are made in S.Korea, Taiwan, Japan, Germany, Italy, USA.................depending on your requirements.

Apple, Samsung and all the top mobile & laptop brands manufacture in China.

It's a case of educating the UK consumer as well as business owner, that if you want cheap, you will get rubbish.

Time for a mindset change, mee finks!

A lot of the chinese swegways are blowing up in households! Some serious overheating so clearly not safe, I hear the samsung battery is a must also for the life span. Pay a little extra and you can get a reputable hoverboard/swegway mine was from airsupreme found them on instagram and ive had no problems!

Guess where Air Supreme buy their products from?

China

What you have to look out for when importing these products are the following:

1. A factory that has been producing these types of products for a number of years, not just for the past few months.

2. They have ALL the required certificates (MSDS, CE, RoHS . . . for USA add FCC), which you must verify.

3. They have authorisation from the patent owner to manufacture & distribute this product.

4. They have the required certification to ship the products as they are classified as a "Dangerous Product" due to it's Lithium Battery.

5. The specifications regarding the Chip, Motors & Battery are correct and can be verified.

6. Clear Instructions, preferably a video, showing exactly how to operate the product.

7. A full after sales service.

Unfortunately most UK buyers don't give a hoot about the above and are only looking for the cheapest price.

There are too many "Production Lines" opening every day for this product and the quality control is laughable at best.

You get what you pay for.

I own a hardware shop (Bricks & Mortar) and all the wholesalers I use sell these things. A lot of them are sold wholesale with no warranty. I have, on three occasions, seen retailers bring them back to be told, tough, it was checked and working when you left with it and was sold with no warranty. at the thick end of £300, then it's a big swallow for the retailer if you have problems with them. not something I would stock, but I don't stock things in that price range anyway.

From what I've seen, they seem a bit of a financial risk.

It's currently the "IT" product.

We are selling on average 2 containers per week to our UK customers.

We sell many more to our US customers, where the emphasis is more on quality.

Unfortunately, there are too many scams coming out from China as well as very very poor quality products due to many buyers putting price before quality.

A sad UK trait!

most I've seen for sale either offer 'standard' or a samsung battery, samsung battery is 5-10$ more expensive so people go with the cheap one.
They're lithium batteries like in laptops etc and when they get hot (overcharging them) they can go boom no matter what quality you get anyway

Not sure I've seen many laptops go "boom".

The batteries in the balance scooters are totally different to those in a laptop.

The "quality refers to not only the specific components used, but the correct assembly, correct safeguards, correct certificates, which all need to be carried out by a production team that knows and understands what it is doing.

Most, do not.

Tip: The failure rate is so bad that numerous retailers in the UK who have large stocks are getting rid of them through auction houses at whatever price they can get.

Over the last month over 1000 of these units have been shunted out through auction houses that handle junk stock. But the auction houses have in excess of 50K units and are waiting for the Christmas buying madness to shift the rest of this stuff.

That's what you get when you put price before quality with no after sales service.

There's probably many reasons why the auctions houses have these products and the most likely is that when shipped, they did not have the required certificates.

All the kids want one or Christmas, my son included, as well as all his mates. I've looked into the feedback re the boards and the safety and after careful consideration he won't be getting one.
They're one of those faddy things kids will bore of easily, mainly because they cant legally use them out and about.

Everyone and his dog are investing in these, you can even by them bulk on eBay.

I mentioned earlier about auction houses.

Another 3,000 of these boards have been released today for quick sale at bought-as-seen auctions i.e. no warranty. Auction companies like Bid2Buy are so overrun with stock of this item they'll give it away at almost any price. If you're looking for a bulk buy on this item you can ignore their £199 price and negotiate!

Price Update: Someone I know picked up a quantity of 10 units from the above location and got them at £135 + VAT each. Just thought followers of this thread may find that tidbit useful if they're looking to negotiate prices.

That's what happens when you buy products without verified certificates.

Without verified certificates, you should not buy any.

There are good reasons why certificates are required, to ensure they comply with safety requirements.

Funny how suppliers in China like quoting C&F/CIF. Why not include duty, paperwork charges, landing port fees, container splitting costs, forwarding etc etc? These can often add up to more than the cost of the products.

Can you get it past all of those formalities to a UK address for £135? If not then you're not really offering a better price, you're just relying on some muppets not knowing the full story of all the extra charges they'll be liable for when the goods land.

Just so readers know, the super low shipping cost is a standard ploy used by Chinese suppliers. Take up their offer and use their shipping company and you'll get stung very, very badly because the freight companies some of them use fleece the customer rotten at the other end i.e. when the goods arrive (and provide a kickback to the Chinese supplier).

Not saying you do this, My Office in China, but this is far too common.

I can't speak for Chinese suppliers as I am a Brit.

I have been working in China for the past 30 years.

However, to answer your questions:

1. The price is £98.

2. Shipping (Per 100pcs) including all clearance fees and delivery to your door is under £10 (There will be a little fluctuation based on the delivery address).

3. Import Duty is 6%

4. VAT is 20%

5. The products are manufactured by the factory authorised by the patent owner (Segway - Who were bought out last year by a Chinese company).

6. All products come with verified certificates, including CE, RoHS, MSDS (and if you will be selling to US customers FCC)

7. All products come with a warranty.

8. All goods are independently checked. (Not only factory checked).

9. We offer a full after sales service.

10. All communication is done in English, not via a Chinese person thinking they know English.

The main problem and this is often the case when UK buyers start getting prices from China factories, is that they put price first, quality and certification last.

It eventually comes back to bite them.

The term "False Economy" is apt.

This is a sophisticated electronic product, not a toy and should be treated as one.
