Rocketfish for SEO, anyone used them?

£13,000 p/a ? wow that is a lot. We only start charging when you reach the top 30+ and even if/when we achieve top 3 results the cost would be nowhere near that. Amazing!

Not really, we charge clients £10,000+ per month. All depends on how big the site is, number of keywords, difficulty of keywords, etc...

e.g. You might think £20,000 a month on Google AdWords are, but we have people that have worked with budgets of £200,000+.

Just depends on the situation.

With Rocket Fish Ltd, never heard of them and not sure why as I know most of the well known SEO companies in the industry. Never had a client that has used Rocket Fish though...

Sounds dodgy by the comments on here, but I would always go with someone who you have met (or can trust), does not tie you in the contracts longer than 1 month, you have spoken to some of their current clients, etc...

“Some of us will do our jobs well and some will not, but we will be judged by only one thing - the result.”

- Vince Lombardi

I like soundbites like this but it rather over simplifies what has been a complex discussion and long thread. What if a builder is taken off a job half way through because the owner runs out of cash? The result is a half built house which is neither use nor ornament. Has the builder failed? Is it fair to judge the builder on the roofless pile of bricks stood in the field?

I agree - hence the question "what have they said they have done?"
The answer that they have given (which I must agree with) not every campaign is the same.
If a 5 page site takes 1 day it is common sense to assume an 10 page website takes 2 days.

Devon at the moment.
Yeah Ali thats pretty much what I was saying, making a sweeping £13k pa is too much statement is stupid. They might be the 2nd largest online DVD store trying to get number 1 then £13k is way too cheap, thats only around 26 high quality link rentals...

I think commenting on what other SEOs charge is just a petty sales tactic normally done by start ups. For X i might charge £500 but company Y might charge £5000, but the way we go around things will be different and there is no way I can attend weekly or even monthly meetings, send daily reports and not want to murder a middle manager who has asked for a 5 page report containing supplemental evidence.

Thankfully all the established SEOs on here are standing back from making nasty comments about Rocket Fish. These 2 new members with no reputation are bad mouthing them without sharing at least their company names, or their websites, or what they were promised and what they received.

I would like to know who else has tried them, but I have had nothing but grief. (failed to deliver on every aspect from communication to implementation) I am now taking them to small claims court. I have since found out one of our mailing houses has had a similar experience but were lucky enough to not hand over so much money. I feel a fool especially as I know a good amount about SEO.

Just build your site in Wordpress and keep sending out blogs. Make sure you have some sign up pages and send out regular emails. Google will give you all the free tools you need. I would recommend companies that offer payment on results - there are plenty out there. We are further forward in 1 month with this new company than we were in 7 with Rocketfish SEO

I Used them about 4 years ago for ine of my websites and unfortunately was a bit naive it terms of what we should be doing in terms of SEO. Long story short we ended up in a four year contract which involved us paying for a programme that created a "Link Farm" This involved buying over 150 domains with both short and long term phrases with minisites of respun content that linked back to our site.

I now know this to be a serious no no in terms of what google will allow and can result in ranking fines and even unlisting.

Not only was I paying monthly for this "software" i was then hit with an annual domain re-registration fee at £15 per domain.

They used to sell this service as LEADBANK one of their trading styles.

Terrible service, C**p results, even worse ethics.

IMO AVOID ROCKETFISH AT ALL COSTS

This makes my blood boil - yet again agencies battering people with no knowledge and blinding them with selective facts in order to make a sale, even though it could potentially damage a site for a long time.

I know of a Bristol-based SEO company who asks website owners to create 'hidden' pages within websites (that the public cannot see) to link out to 20-30 companies in exchange for "Free £3,000-worth of SEO services for 12 months".

SNAP, I've just wrote a small blog post which touches on that and how people can be easily trapped by contracts from services they think are a great buy.

I can't stress this enough. They are completely inept and although we have had three weeks of complete and utter rubbish spouted from them, a lack of communication when questions where asked and appalling work ethics, as soon as break in contact and cancellation of direct debit is mentioned boy do you get it from all sides. Does anyone know of a good lawyer that can take on these so called seo experts (laughable) on? Please if you are reading this before you have taken out a contract with them then thank your lucky stars you have the chance to find a reputable seo firm. If you think a proposal is too good to be true - then its because its full of unrealistic promises.

Wow, seems you have had a hard time with these guys - if you need any help getting out of a contract with these guys let me know as we have a lawyer who writes ours so he may be able to spot any loopholes?

I posted asking for people's experiences of how the contract with Rocketfish was resolved if the service didn't live up to expectations but no-one has shared their experiences???

There is a reason that I'm asking, I am the OP and didn't have the benefit of all of these messages at the time we started with them

I have reached the end of the road with Rocketfish. They give you a long list of things they are going to do including

    website analysis, restructuring & optimisation
    site map creation
    quality directory submissions
    article writing
    product-specific mini websites
wordpress & blogger setup & custom design
facebook & twitter setup, promotion, management, updates & custom landing pages
social bookmarking (digg, delicioius, technorati, stumbled upon) profile creation
data capture points on website with web response form
    lead management/crm software
email marketing software & email template design
automated weekly updates & position reports
    google analytics setup / implementation
    quarterly reviews

    sounds fantastic doesn't it?

In the 3+ months we've been with them, the only thing they've done is to come up with a keyword list and change the title & meta keywords on top level pages in the website. And that is it. Nothing else at all. They've withdrawn their weekly position report update in favour of google analytics so now I don't get anything from them at all.

I had a meeting with one of their Directors who told me that everything was on schedule and I was being unreasonable. He promised to investigate certain specific issues which I'd raised but he never came back to me. I referred him to their videos which specifically tell you what to expect in month 1, 2, 3 and so on. He told me they were 'just a guide'. They continue to tell me that they are carrying out work on our behalf but avoid telling me what work they've done. And they took all of the direct debit payments earlier than specified in the agreement.

I don't know what's gone wrong with this company but I would certainly never work with them again. I would however like to read some feedback from someone who has had good experience with them though, in the interests of balance.

We have had a terrible time with them and are looking for any information which might prove useful in handling this problem. Could anyone with first hand experience with Rocketfish please contact me.

I would really appreciate any advice or help that can be given.
