Review my site / quote me

Hi all,

Long time lurker, rare poster but need some feedback and idea on prices for a website re-design, and thought I would test the collective knowledge of UKBF, and see if this was within the scope of any resident web designers / developers!

Basically, our current website, www dot chapman dot co dot uk (can't post addresses as a newbie!) has been with us for a couple of years in it's current form. I have done what I can in terms of seo and website optimisation, and believe I am at the limit of what I can do. The website is based on a template, and as such the code is a bit 'messy', and isn't run under a cms. Currently no mobile site and the main site is slow to load on mobiles and as such we're losing an important source of enquiries.

I think the website needs starting afresh from a clean slate, under a CMS which can in the future handle multi-languuage / localisation (this does not need to be in place initially, but will be added soon), and has a dedicated mobile site. No e-commerce as well sell through dealers / distributors, but need a slick and professional shop window, where potential customers can get technical info etc, and see who their nearest distributor is and so forth.

A firm local to us have recently had a site done, and it is very much the style / format we are looking for as a guide; www dot teagle dot co dot uk

Specific product pages as an example are much clearer than our site, even though they have a lot more information at hand, which for technical sales makes a big difference.

Not having a clue as to how much this will cost, what region are we looking at?

Rather than mobile, I would suggest what you want is a Responsive website. i.e a site that responds to the screen size (no matter what it is) rather than the device type. This is the modern, way of handling mobile design.

As it happens, we have literally just quoted a company for a very similar website to your own, although they distribute Tractors rather than manufacture.

Yes I think you are correct, it is a responsive site we are after.

Whatever we use, it needs to be fairly slick, and simple to navigate, as I think that is where we are falling down currently. We lose a lot of traffic after the first or second page even with a good average pageview time.

It's just the sort of project we love to get involved in but we are pretty booked up till Christmas now - is it something you'd be looking to start immediately? - if not, then I'd be interested in running some options by you
