Regulation labeling for exports

Hi, we export goods from UK to Canada. Canadian health regulation means these products need to be translated in both English and French. This is standard practice my question however is whether any company can add a new label to the packaging or only the brand owner and official distributors? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks on advance

Who ever needs/wants to comply!

Normally this would be the manufacturer or importer.

Thanks for your reply, so as an importer would they be legally able to label a branded product that isn't their own brand? Just regulation label nothing changed to actual branded label etc

No it is wholesale goods not our brand or manufacturer.

I'm sure I've seen foreign foodstuffs with English ingredients and nutrition labels added by the importer.

Personally if they were not my goods ie manufactured / produced by myself and I was (knowingly) forwarding them onto a country that required by law additional labelling I think to cover my own backside and any possible future issues (claims) I would add the relevant labels required to sleep easy in my bed at night.

Unless of course you could talk your supplier into doing this for you

I think that's his question... does he need to go back to the OEM, or can he add the label himself. The phrase "we want to send this stuff to Canada" may well upset the manufacturer if they've already got distribution in Canada
