Does anybody know how easy it is to set up a business in another country (luxembourg for example)

I have a UK Ltd company, and am in the health sector. But im mainly concerned about a friend who has a UK ltd company who works in construction i know his company pays a fortune in Corporation tax / VAT and his company is pretty much on its arse because of this, well not so much on its arse, he does ok but could be doing so much better and setting himself up for a nice retirement. the guy is always busy, works 24/7 and looking over his books would have a cracking business if the taxes where not so high, i was wondering if anyone has done this, a lot of big businesses tend to do this, Amazon, Paypal, Ebay, Starbucks etc...

I know you dont have to actually have to live or even trade in luxembourg for example (using this as it seems the most common) so just wondering if there is any reason why you could not just set up there

Ok, quick lesson in reality; if your 'friend' is complaining that all his hard earned profits are going on taxes, he's lying!! If your business is run efficiently and correctly, you don't need to think about moving. Having a company registered in a tax free haven is for those who earn millions not tens of thousands so don't believe all that's said to you. Sounds like a moaner with no money to me......

You do not need to be in 7 figures to make paying thousands in taxation advice viable, especially if you could absent yourself from the UK. You won't escape VAT though but it is Corporation Tax and Income tax on salary and dividends which matter.

I agree with the interpretation of the builder and his missing millions though.
