New to this forum, but have been successfully running a digital business for nearly 2 decades.
Rather than ask something on this forum from the outset, I wanted to just share one of the best kept secrets our company has made use of in the past 5+ years: the free training, support and business assistance from the DBT (Department for Business and Trade) for exporting.
I am not employed by the UK government, and this is not political. But I, and our company, have benefitted so much from the DBT (née DIT), I can truly recommend you do likewise. In truth, their service is paid for by all UK taxpayers, so you may as well make use of it.
Our company exports a lot inherently, as we're a digital services business, to the tune of 90%+ of revenue. So far, we have received free:
Without exports, we wouldn't grow. Or even exist. It's not always straightforward (and increasing protectionist mentality from most countries around the world is making it all worse by the year), but like employing your first person, once you've got over the first set of hurdles, you get used to the pain of it all!

Our company exports a lot inherently, as we're a digital services business, to the tune of 90%+ of revenue. So far, we have received free:
- Export market targeting consultations (working out which country/region is the best fit for expanding exports)
- Language/translation reviews and advice
- Grant funding for overseas missions
- Tailored overseas IP reviews and advice (should we get a patent in region X, trademark in country Y, etc.)
- Very regular signposting to resources, funding and opportunities by our local DBT International Trade Adviser (ITA)
- Offers to use UK embassies to help export wins
