Hello friends,

I am looking for some help selecting an accountant who can help with a start-up. Our needs our quite simple and basic and need assistance with the year end filing and ensuring all this is done properly. Any recommendations. I am based in London, so someone in and around London would be great.

Also anyone have experience with EIS and any recommendations on how to go about doing this?

Thanks,
Rohan

Ho Rohan

I hate to pounce on you but my firm looks after many new and small businesses and we have a great deal of experience in doing so. I'd be very happy to chat and or exchange emails with you without any obligation.

Their are several of us accountants who regularly contribute to the forum who you may like to consider as well. It's important to choose the right accountant for your requirements.

If you post in the Accounts Forum you may get a little more response.

Maybe I should have highlighted:

IF YOUR BASED in the North London Area, then you should use the company I recommended, because they helped my travel company.

I'd rather not get into arguements with other online accountants (I cannot think of anything more boring).

I'd like to highlight however, I strongly recommend (any business) getting an accountant in your OWN area. It helped my business and it will certainly be better because you dont really know who is on the other end of that online website, it could be a one man show (non qualified) running his business from his home. Integrity and trust is key.

Good Luck to you all.

Hi Rohan,

Where in London are you? We are based in Leicester Square and have helped a number of start-ups get off the ground, also we have a good amount of experience with EIS. Would be more than happy to have a chat (free of charge) to discuss your ideas.

The forum is a great place to help others, and to give and receive recommendations. Sadly some aren't as genuine as they may appear.

I wouldnt for one moment argue that online accountancy firms such as mine are the best/only option - far from it. They are great for some but aren't right for everyone. What I am saying is that they do work very well for people happy to work in this way and distance is no problem at all.

As with any accountant I quite agree its very wise to make sure you know who you are dealing and to check their qualifications and experience after all anyone can call themselves an accountant.

I can recommend Wisteria Chartered Accountants. They are based in Edgware, North London.

Visit their site wisteria.co.uk for more information.

They also deal with Company Formations and Business Plans on top of all the tax and accounting stuff that you would expect.

Hope that this helps.

Michael

Can you recommend them or you are them?

I use MyAccountantOnline and they have been great :) It is worth giving them a call to at least see how they can help!

Addressing your point on EIS, there is a refreshingly helpful introduction publication on HMRC's website. It looks at EIS both from the company perspective and investor perspective. Have a look at that first and if you've got specific queries I (and others) will no doubt have a go at answering them for you.
