Hi
We use Rated People as a source of leads for various work such as roofing and building.
If your not familiar - a member of the public when they have a need for something say a new house roof, they can go on rated people for free and post an advert for the job, along with an indication of their budget for the same.
Now usually we only buy the leads with the most information on to give us an idea of if the customer is realistic. If the advert falls into our remit we then have to purchase the lead from rated people with an average cost of £40-70 a time.
This gives you the customer contact details.
Now here is the issue - I have just purchased a lead in the last 10 minutes that came through, perfect job for us. I spoke to the customer and they clearly stated that they have no interest in doing the job they were just seeing how the site worked...
Rated People will not refund the fee, nor do they validate the leads that get placed on the site to see if they are legitimate jobs that exist.
We have wasted probably a few thousand on leads that either do not exist or have been cancelled within 5 minutes of being put on the website.
How are you fixed for sending people the bill purely just for the lost fee? I have their details..
Please do not think for a second we are trying to charge people for jobs we have not won - If we purchase a lead and there is a genuine job there that we can price and if we do not win thats fair game we obviously accept the loss and move on. But the timewasters who post spurious leads are costing a fortune and theres no way of vetting them before purchase other than the advert itself.
Any suggestions?
