Good Morning Everyone
I have no idea whether any one can help nor indeed if this is the correct thread to place this enquiry on but here goes:-
I will try to be brief!!!!!!!
As many of you know I have recently started my own business writing content for websites and blog posts charging 2 pence per word and it is going well.
I use an Apple Mac.
My expertise is in writing about financial services/banking products for which I need to do little research if any. However, I have now written about so many different subjects.
Let us assume I am going to write an article about laser hair removal. I don't know a thing about this subject so I will go on the internet to do some research and copy content off other websites about the subject and paste it onto a new microsoft office document . I will then completely re-write it manually, save it and either send an e -mail to the client with the word document as an attachment so they can load it onto their website or I will copy the content from the word doc and paste it via WordPress directly onto their website or if it is an agency I am working for I will copy the completed article from word onto their database.
I am considering buying a laptop so that if I am away from home for a weekend I can pick up my e-mails and do all of the above and transfer the completed article onto the customer's file that I keep on my Apple Mac desktop when I get home.
Finances are a little tight at the moment and I had been thinking of buying a cheap netbook but then I heard about refurbished laptops.
I am not interested in watching movies or playing games on it although I may upload an image off SCX to put on a blog post that relates to a post I have written. All I want it to do is receive and send emails, wireless connection so if I am sitting on a beach in Cannes it will work, have access to the Internet, copy and paste content off websites into a Microsoft word doc, re-write the word doc and then download the completed article to my client.
I have made some enquiries and found the following refurbished laptop costing £149.99 inc vat.
My question is, in your opinions, will it do what I want it to?
The chap I spoke to who is selling them said that as it has Open Office I will be able to cut and paste content from websites into a word doc , re-write it and then send it to clients as an e-mail attachment- is that correct or will I need to buy Microsoft Office that may cost another £30 plus?
Will it have adequate storage space for my articles I write? - he said yes
I had heard to avoid 1gb RAM Memory speed and go for 2GB ?
Duel core - I had not thought of this but he said this would be beneficial as I would have more than one type of IT program open at one time.-does this sound correct?
It is a Dell which means nothing to me!
Anyway- below are the details on the laptop he recommended :-
Any observations would be welcome.
That was me being brief!!!!!
Thank You
Kindest Regards
Alan
