My 12 year old boy wants a ps3 and I'm wondering what games there are that people can recommend for his age.
His sister plays gta but I'm not allowing him to play it due to the 18 rating and dodgy content.
Any suggestions?

Hi
My seven year old nephew plays gta since he was 5... We decided this year to stick to FIFA and NFS type games. You can also try Taken 2 witg fights Mortal Kombat is better but than is too much blood in that game...

you cna get ps1s and original xbox for like a tenner with a huge catalogue of games thrown in. get him one of those, pick out the more mature games and leave him to it.

Lego games are great, especially lego batman, I often have played them with my daughter over the years (shes now 12). She also likes need for speed most wanted as its 'open world', yes GTA has its 18 rating for a reason.

What else, err sonic racing, little big planet.

Though for a boy would probably be call of duty, my 9 year old nephew loves that; and kicks my backside on it when he comes over...i'm getting too old for video games :)

Can't go wrong with sports games - I started playing Fifa at about his age. Hours of entertainment. would also encourage him to play football outdoors too. If he doesn't like Football then.....oh dear.

There's simply one game that will keep him busy for hours, if not days or weeks or months, Minecraft. They have to use their imagination and create their own world, sounds boring but its addictive. I'm 30 and the last time i had a quick go on it i realised 15 hours later i hadn't eaten and it was 4 in the morning lol

Yeah if he doesn't like football... he might grow up to be an intelligent and well balanced person without the smattering of casually racist opinions so often considered the norm by the ideal you hold.

Another vote for Little Big Planet and the Lego Batman games (I'm nearly 30 and even I enjoy that one!)

Also, agree with Minecraft, my cousin is completely infatuated with that game. It's a 'sandbox' game, meaning what happens in-game is completely open to the people playing it. You build and create all the content (except for the actual landscape, though can 'terraform it). Days, weeks or months of entertainment for someone with a little imagination and creativity.

The uncharted games are excellent but there is a little minor swearing so are 15's and might not be suitable. Little big planet is very good and for all ages, driving and sports games are pretty safe for kids.

EDIT= Forgot about the lego games, they are all excellent especially star wars.

Reminds me of the time I was helping out with a school sports day and I was in charge of the javelin.

Lad steps up and throws the javelin. As he walked back to the holding pen I heard him mutter to his mate "cor, its much easier on the Wii."
