Hi

I need a new printer. Requirements are:

Colour Laserjet
Duplex
At least 2 input trays (ideally 1000+ sheet capacity - combined)
At least 1200 x 1200 DPI
New or refurbished

Historically, I've alway purchased HP printers but am willing to consider other [quality] makes.

Anyone here sell printers and can quote? Or anyone who has recently bought a good quality printer and willing to recommend it.

Many thanks

Craig

Hi Craig

Printware.co.uk have the Epson AcuLaser X4200 which appears to match all your requirements and costs £981.33 (exc VAT).

Could you let me know what budget you have set aside for this?

Thanks

Current frontrunnner is Brother 4050CDN - approx £450 incl VAT.

Am also thinking about a refrubished HP 2605DTN - circa £289.

Be aware that the Brother has a pretty high consumables cost (not just toner cartridges, but also OPC drums etc). I had a customer swap one out for a leased Toshiba photocopier AIO unit for this very reason.

Thanks, Pentangle.

I don't suppose you are aware of any sort of site that allows an easy comparison of the consumables?

Cheers

Unfortunately not, because the consumables are all available at different prices from different suppliers. We were only able to compare as we were supplying the consumables for that printer and their other printers as well.

Well, i've ordered a Canon Pixma ip4700 off ebay for image printing. Now, I just need a Colour Laserjet Duplex.

I seem to recall there is a subtle difference between printers with imaging unit or fusing unit (some have them and some don't) - Just wondering if anyone knows the difference and whether they can recommend a suitable printer. Would prefer to stick with HP for this one.

Thanks

Update:

Canon arrived yesterday and the quality is very good and high quality card.

I came across www.pricerunner.co.uk which allows you to specify your requirements and gives access to reviews, too.

A browse in my local Staples had me almost drooling. A Lexmark C543DN for £193.60 - until I read this:

http://www.pcworld.com/zoom?id=187407&page=4&zoomIdx=2

So I have also bought a Canon i-SENSYS LBP7200Cdn for day to day business use.

Will update the thread on progress.

Regards

Craig

Update:

Well the latest Canon has arrived and I am suitably impressed.

Good quality, sharp output. Printer can be a bit noisy in firing up.

Cheers
