Press Releases for SEO?

I have noticed a few of my competitors have started new websites for local keywords.

They have bought close match domain names and hammered them with press releases. Using link analysis software I have noticed they have been using a PR software called Pitch Engine. Has anyone used this or heard anything about it?

I haven't used Pitch Engine but it is a website that shares your content on social networks. If you wish to run a PR I can recommend PRWeb as they will run your PR on social networks and on good PR websites with high Page Ranking. I believe you will get better return on PRWeb.

Press Release has been one important for our SEO. They can reach out more famous medias and promote your site. You can choose to do or not based your needs.

I have used Pitch Engine for my site, it's very helpful to market your services, products around Social networks, google news, Blogs.

They can be effective, but you'll need to make sure they're well written and that they're submitted through a good service.

If they're being submitted to spammy sites it's going to hurt you rather than help you.

PRWire is probably a good choice but I tend to avoid press releases for my SEO efforts, which is not to say they won't help, just not a part of my strategy!

A well composed press release that is distributed over the prominent press release websites works well in terms of improving on the keyword rankings and enhancing the incoming traffic to the website. Yes i totally agree with your this quote now in SEO the main thing as according to me is the unique and high quality content that make a big difference in your traffic of a website.

It is sincere advice that don't use any software for back linking purpose. It may give you benefit for temporary purpose but then will harm your rankings after some times. Just focus on natural linking because Google has been too smart now.

yes i totally agree with your this thought,if you want to create a permanent and stable traffic for your website then you have to use the process of White Hat SEO instead of going for the shortcuts.

Exactly, I too agree with you. Black Hat SEO helps to increase the ranking only for very short period. One Google update comes and you are gone. White Hat Seo will help to get you the stable traffic and also helps in increase the ranking.

But isn't ALL seo inherently black hat as you are trying to manipulate the websites position in the searches for your own (or your customers) ends?

The term 'white hat seo' seems to be mostly (not solely) bandied about by people and companies who don't have the knowledge or skill to rank a site for anything remotely competitive :|

I try to keep the meaning as White Hat SEO manual work and Black Hat SEO automatically done my machines for a fee. I believe still a few SEO companies use machines to automatically do the work. Acutally, I know it. I had one company offer me such service for £400 a month.
