Premises or Bank Account first?

Hello guys,

I have recently agreed to rent office premises in order to make a few things easier for myself (getting ready to trade in December).

I have set up an appointment with Barclays Bank in order to set up a business bank account but I notice they ask for a utility bill less than three months old. What about if the business has not yet had any bills?

Thanks in advance

Maybe a copy of the lease? Or if you are a sole trader your own household bills will suffice.

It's a LTD Company, I could certainly get a copy of the lease for them. I always saw 'utility bills' as gas, electric, water or phone bill though.

With Barclays I got 'rut adviser will discuss it with you', which I guess translated as 'please don't cancel the appointment' :P

Yea, I only said maybe take the lease as it will give proof of address at the same time as showing why there are no utility bills available. It may not be enough though.

They'll usually ask for other things and not just require the one item of evidence.

Santander (abbey) which does free banking for life by the way ask for other things like a letter from your Accountant confirming it, a photocopy of any professional qualification, etc.
