Hello guys,
I hope that everyone is doing great.
I have now found a supplier for Porcelain tiles from India. They do all the popular sizes and designs too. I have obtained CIF price to Southampton port.
I have all the catalogues with pictures , sizes and designs.
I would like help with 2 things -
Any shipping agent to get my stock delivered to a London address. I will get 1 container worth of stock - roughly 14000 square feet. It will be a mixed stock of different size tiles from 1.2m x 1.2 m to 800mm x 600mm. How much will it cost? I understand that there will be 20% vat payable.
Is there anyone here who may have an existing shop/ business who may be interested in buying from me?
Or could anyone point me in the right direction - should I approach local tile retailers.

Hi Yogendra.

We are a UK forwarder who have a department who specialise in the import of tiles, currently handling regular shipments from India, Far East and Southern European countries.

We are members of The Tile Association and are very experienced in ensuring shipments run smoothly.

More info is shown on our website (It won't let me post a link, but if you search Quality Freight Tiles, you should find the relevant page)

If you could e-mail [email protected], my colleague Kelly English would be more than happy to answer any questions you may have and assist you.

Regards

Not only is there import VAT but there may be import duties as well If you don’t get the correct documentation. To get zero duties for goods made in India make sure you get the preferential origin documentation/ statements under the developing countries trading scheme from the supplier.
You also need to advise your customs broker to declare / claim that there is proof of preferential origin

Will certificate of origin be sufficient?

Under the DCTS you need either a Form A certificate or if the exporter is approved they can use a specifically worded statement on commercial documentation . Please bear in mind Origin ie ‘ made in India‘ is not the same as preferential origin Where a higher burden of proof is required under trade agreements.

Ok thanks. I will feed this back to supplier to ensure shipment has correct documentation

Hi Yogendra. Sorry, didn't see you'd asked about Certificates of Origin and Duty rates. Whilst @Customs Geek has provided correct and good advice, if you do need further, as mentioned, my colleague Kelly regularly brings in Tiles, and could definitely help smooth the process from start to finish, and make sure that you cover all details, and pay the least duty possible on arrival. Drop her an e-mail, [email protected], she'll happily help and advise. Mike
