Hi all,

Am doing a bit of research in regards to a new 'specialist ' avenue im looking to take a section of my business.

If you could answer honestly that would be great

If I was to extend my house I would rather extend across the garage on the first floor rather than use more of the back garden by using a conservatory etc.

Hi Mattley,

I live in a bungalow though it is large the outside space is`nt sufficient for extension or a conservatory, but an attic conversion is my dream

I would have a Conservatory, I'm too impatient to wait for planning and you don't need it for some conservatories.

Jayne - 90% of garage conversions dont need planning also. Keep that in mind if your thinking of developing your own home

Creo - My idea was to set up a referral site, basically linking customers who need work with trusted tradesmen. Aftyer further research there already several sites like this so ive turned my attention to something else, hence this little poll.

Good point! All I need now is a garage

I will remember that for the future, when we move house.

We have a ground floor extension across the back and can't build on top of the that. The garage is detached so wouldn't bother with that, but are planning on a loft extension at some future point.

Definitely a conservatory. Having lived in a house with one before it is excellent having one in early summer to relax in or put kids in so you can keep an eye on them.

In winter its just a good big space for storage.

I would say it really about what people can do rather than what they want. On average in central London people opt for a basement as this is some times the only option available to add some space. On east london loft conversion very popular because houses there have relatively small gardens so it's not convenient to cut space for extension, basements very expensive.

Since moving into our house 15 years ago, we completed an unfinished room above the two-car garage and built an office for me that consumes half the garage. (I use the term we liberally. We paid someone to do it. If I tried, the house would fall down.)

If we ever need more space, I'd probably consider moving house. It would be a lot easier.
