Hi 1668james,
We do not use voip at our end as we hardly make any calls, its the quality of calls to others that are sometimes bad and 3 suppliers in particular are so bad i had just assumed (probably wrongly) it was because they used a voip system, perhaps its a old setup or badly implemented.

NOT A REAL DUCK - We have a similar just plug it in old style phone at home, which we bought after a power cut and were unable to report it as the radio phone doesn't work without power. Luckily the quality of the radio phone is pretty good (not sure what make) and about the same as the old style plug in one.

I know that the VOIP companies have all sorts of technical 'selling points', based on how good VOIP call quality is (from a purely technical perspective), and they will always find a way to blame another link in the chain for a bad call, but this doesn't change the fact that the service can end up being a bit crap.

If you'd posted this a few years ago I would have agreed wholeheartedly. We used a VOIP service for our retail business and the quality of the call, delays on the call or the call cutting out completely was far too frequent. This was true from our office or on the move with a laptop.

These days the breaks in calls over Skype for example are far less frequent, this is probably reflective and the continued improvement in capacity and speed of our nations networks.

Wait until 5G comes out as it has in South Korea... it will almost be as good as using an actual phone :D
