How email marketing works? Is it worth to invest if advertising food? Is it worth to invest if advertising fashion blog?

You put an opt-in form on your site, collect emails from visitors and send out emails pushing your products until they unsubscribe,

or

You get smart and offer something of value. e.g. dieting advice, given as a sequence of emails. Lots of free information on how to, case studies, demos etc. During these you have subtle links to your product pages. Occasionally you send out offers, but the majority of the email sequences should be standalone valuable information that appeals to your customers.

If you're even smarter you'll give extra stuff to buyers (those who buy rather than those who simply signup for free info) and you'll segment your list into specific interest groups, so you can target them with specific information and products.

Aweber over Mailchimp is my suggestion.

As for capturing leads WeblinkPlus makes some great points.

Just one thing to think about. You can have a lead capture form and the best products in the world but if you don't have traffic then it's game over.

Just a little nugget of gold shared:)

Email marketing has become an essential tool for business ever since the introduction of the Internet to the world, however some campaigns that make it through to our inboxes are absolute rubbish that we don’t take any notice of. This article seeks to explain what email marketing really is, why companies should use it and how they should go about doing so.

Mmm, me thinks this post doesn't make sense at all IMHO

There is a reason MailChimp is one of the most popular email marketing software available. It gets the job done but there are plenty of alternatives if you take the time to seek them out. But going back to your original question which is better Aweber or Mailchimp depends on what you want it to do. You can see a detailed comaprison of them bothhere.
Alot of marketers say that mailchimp is not very friendly using affiliate marketing. My personal experience it is realy not bad to collect emails from start point. You can get up to 2000 subscriber list for free. Simple integration, newsletter reports. Of course in free account autoresponders not working and you can send only limited count of mails. And if people from list start checking your email campaigns as spam, then even payed account can get baned.

Email marketing is an effective way to reach consumers directly via electronic mail. When used properly, is one of the most effective tools for communication with your customers and clients.

The internet has introduced a new twist on direct mail and given businesses another chance to reach people, a technique known as e-mail marketing. It's a cheap, fast way to reach a large base of customers, and unlike direct mail, it's easy to track the effectiveness of an e-mail marketing campaign electronically. On top of that, it can help save a ton of a paper.

I don't think it's worth it. You better invest in Google Adwords or pay a professional SEO agency to optimise your blog and website. The ROI % will probably be better.

You don't think it's worth it?

Have you ever tried it?

I think you miss the point, majorly.

Email marketing should be use in conjunction with Adwords or SEO.

Adwords and SEO are traffic strategies, not sales or conversion strategies.

Let's say that for every 100 visitors you get via SEO and PPC, 5 people make a purchase. That's 95 people or 95% of your visitors gone, wasted, probably never to return.

But if you can capture the names and email addresses of just 30 of the people that don't buy, you can email them at pre-set times and send them value packed emails which can include;
  • The benefits of your product or services
  • What to look for in a product or service like yours
  • Mistakes people make when purchasing a product or service like your and how to avoid them
  • Testimonials from your current customers or subscribers
  • Product promotions and sales pitches
Using a strategy like this you can potentially double, even triple your your conversion rates.

And then there's repeat sales you can generate from your email list realising a customers 'Life Time Value'.

I hope this helps,

Ben

For every 100 visitors on our website about 15 people make a purchase. If you send 100 e-mails, will you get 15 leads?

I think you've misunderstood me.

I'm talking about capturing the names and emails of the people that land on your website - I'm not talking about sending random emails to random people to get leads.

As it is, you get 15 sales per 100 website visits (which is an excellent conversion rate by the way). But what about the 85 people or 85% of people that don't buy?

If you can capture the names and addresses of THOSE PEOPLE and send out structured emails to those people, you could massively increase your overall conversion rates.

I hope that makes more sense.

Seems extraordinarily high... I seem to remember a figure of 0.5% (or 1 sale from 200 visitors) as being the "average" (though I'd be disappointed in that result).
As well as increasing your conversion on initial sale, you get the opportunity to sell other stuff to them over time, thus increasing customer value.

Yeah I thought that was high but it's not impossible.

Completely agree with the increase of customer value. I mentioned that in the post above.

I think too many companies spend to much time trying to attract new customers and spend a lot of money doing it. In stead of building and nurturing relationships with past customers and unconverted leads, which with email, is very cheap to do

Another way of doing email marketing is in bulk..buy leads from data provider..buy offshore server and send out emails to leads. best practice is to send out valuable informative emails than email them about your product. I learnt how to set up the servers which can easily send 10 millions per day.

Don't ever do this. This is SPAM.

Email marketing works best for any niche as it allows you to talk with the people who have visited your site. The average person won't purchase a product on their first visit to a website. So it helps to get your site visitors to opt into a website email newsletter. In this way, you have permission to email and talk with these people even after they leave your site to remind them about your products or services. Email marketing is all about trust building with the people on your list. Just take your time and only recommend products that will truly benefit the people on your list.
