I am! I use to to organize my bookmarks, share products related to my industry, and share information about products/wordpress plugins I develop. You can see exactly how I am doing it here: pinterest . com/adbox/. (Sorry I'm still short of 15 posts to make links. When I make it I will come back a do a proper link)

Surprisingly I get a handful of repins.

Yes I use it sometimes - when I do its usually for a couple of hours (!) I'm on as pinterest.com/wpdesign/

Yes I use it and I only get visitors to my site, I don't get any conversions out of it. I think that I don't get any conversions is because I am a wholesaler and most of the pinterest visitors are women.

We are using Pinterest here at Coretium - it's a great way to make brand more personal and close to the customers. Of course, in a case if it is relevant. In our case it is as we are design and marketing agency.

As with choice of any media, think about your audience before making a decision - if they wouldn't find it interesting, there is no point on wasting your time there.

Though now with infographics being latest trend online, seems like almost any business can find something to pin. Try to use keywords related to your company followed by "infographics". It is very likely that you will find something interesting.

Good luck with pins!

I'd suggest looking at the terms and conditions on Pinterest, as they have some rules about using it as a promotional tool.

This is pasted from their terms of service;

"As simple as it sounds, best practices for using Pinterest for brand purposes center around pinning like a regular user. Most importantly, this includes:
  • Pinning from various sources rather than one specific site.
  • Repinning from within the site to engage with others - repinning is one of the most social activities on Pinterest and it's how any user really builds his/her network of followers.
  • Creating at least a few boards that cover a broad range of interests, rather than maintaining a single board devoted to one topic
For brands, pinning can be a great way to highlight aspects of your brand that may not come to mind at first when people consider your brand. For instance, Whole Foods uses Pinterest to feature their work with their foundation. Pinterest can also be a great tool to learn what your audience/users/customers want and like. When The Travel Channel started their Pinterest account, they asked their Facebook users what boards they should create and what they should pin."

Some things to be aware of there.

I spoke to somebody yesterday they advised me this.

Create a profile, pin stuff on your site once in a while with a link in the description back to your site.

Then share other cool stuff related to your marketplace

It's a good way to stay in touch with an existing base of people (i.e. past customers or existing users), but like most marketing methods related to social networking, many people struggle to turn any exposure into a meaningful number of sales.

Yes, Pinterest is a pretty fresh social network but more and more people, businesses and companies are using it for their specific purposes. And it has been proven to be an effective social and business tool.

I’ve found Pinterest to be one of the best sources to market my business online since Facebook. I use infographics - images that present lots of interesting information and facts in a really user-friendly way. People love these, and they are happy to share them with their friends, especially on Pinterest. If you want to know more there is a really good guide to infographics and marketing here: rubymediacorporation.com/blog/infographics-a-powerful-tool-to-promote-your-business-brand/ You can use this strategy to both promote a specific product or service you offer or to simply increase your brand awareness.

I do use Pinterest, - found it works best for visuals, so any kind of retail business, property business, and anything where the product sells itself is a good option.

It gets a backlink too which is good for SEO, put keywords in title of your pin, and ensure you have good copy to support the picture.

I've read recently it is more popular in the U.S rather than the UK, but its still worth doing

We use it and have added the pin icon to each of our product pages. It has increased our pins as it makes it easier for people to pin on their boards. The image they pin then brings people directly back to our site.

HOW CAN WE BUILD A NUMBER OF FOLLOWERS ON PINTEREST?

1. As soon as we get started creating a Pinterest profile, we can also create our own pin boards. Pinterest offers two “follow” options. Users can follow our pinboard alone or our user account itself. What sets them apart?
- When a user follows our board, they will be notified through their stream when anyone pins content on that board. (This is relatively similar to hashtags on Twitter where anyone can post their insights on the topic being discussed.)
- When a user follows a Pinterest profile, they are notified every time theuser being followed pins something on a board.
- This comparison shows that PinBoards may have more followers (at random) than a particular user.
2. Pinterest gives us the ability to increase our followers on both our boards and profile.
- We can create the most informative and interesting boards on any specific topic that we want to bring across.
- Whether it is our latest catalogue of products and services or our company profile, we can use this approach to increase our chances of attracting followers who are pretty much interested in the kind of business that we do.
- We can follow users and boards that is relevant to our business and interest. By doing this, we increase our potential to get noticed by more audience and followers.
- When anyone sees us posting an insightful comment on a certain post/pin and consistently interacting with informative details, they are more likely to get curious and interested that they will follow us.

Yes we get quite a lot of repins on Pinterest despite being in a niche industry

Pinterest is a must if you are an online retailer especially if you deal in unique, fun or lifestyle goods.

It's also good for driving traffic to blogs etc, it can't really be ignored especially as it's now the 16th most visited site in the US.

Dot Design, how can Pinterest help me in the niche business I'm in?

Tricky with what you do as currently 70% of users are women, that said I'd focus on 'pining' images that show off the craftmanship of your cues, maybe an insight into how they are made (you can pin videos as well). You could also focus on the woods involved, to be honest I'd need to know abit more about your business really.

But your basically giving an insight into your brand, products.

I've posted a few things on Pinterest previously and it has got a few visitors to my site but then it has kind of dropped of the radar really so I am still very unsure if Pinterest is going to take off for businesses

I'd look at it again Jody: as Pinterest's Drives More Traffic Than Google+, YouTube and LinkedIn Combined in March 2012 >
http://mashable.com/2012/02/01/pinterest-traffic-study/

"Pinterest accounted for 3.6% of referral traffic, while Twitter just barely edged ahead of the newcomer, accounting for 3.61% of referral traffic."

This was back in Feb 2012, it's growing fast. If you've the right product and in retail and used correctly I do believe Pinterest can be huge.

Honastly now, why don't you create an account and figure it out?
It doesn't have to be your businesses' account. Create a personal one and test these things. It's a bookmarking site so the answer to your question will be probably yes, but if clicks and "sales" is what you are looking for you better try adwords better.

Yes, I use a pinterest site for my Business. It's one type of Social Media or Sharing Site. Pinterest is a pinboard style, Social photo Sharing website that allows us to create and manage theme-based image collections such as events, interests, hobbies, and more. we can browse other pinboards for inspiration, give Comment also & re-pin images to other collections or like photos.

When it comes to Pinterest, i think it takes a lot of maintaining- all the content from boards need to be updated regularly.
