Hi guys

Just looking for some advice on this and anyone with previous experience.

We are a small business events company doing three or four events a year with around 500 guests at each event.

We've used PayPal for years and got hit with their rolling reserve policy in the first year of starting up, and now 10 years later they have just imposed a hold on part of our funds for 21 days. We can't be in a position where we're not able to pay our clients. We've had to process a number of refunds recently due to Covid affecting our dates and guests unable to attend the new ones offered and from what I can gather paypal don't like you issuing refunds and that's why they put measures in place. Refunds are unavoidable!

Can anyone recommend an alternative processor which doesn't impose these awful measures for small businesses?
From reading several of them will hold your money not long after you create a new account.

Thanks

The go-to for small businesses with online bookings is Stripe.

They do hold initially for 7 days and also a reserve fund initially until proven https://support.stripe.com/questions/reserved-funds but after a track record they reduce to 3 days payout and remove the reserve

A sailing club that I look after for instance that started taking event bookings payments online due to Covid uses Stripe and within a few months payouts were within 3 days and no reserves.

What event booking software do you use?

I was going to suggest Stripe so this is a +1 to @Alan suggestion, and also recommend if you didn’t consider it already to order their contactless device that works with your mobile for card payments.
My wife uses this for her retail business when doing exhibitions and trade shows.
